It sold well, which means CC2 will not stop and think that the quality is dropping dramatically with each new installment.....

TV ratings (struggling) or movie gross (doing average) were the things I had in mind. ^^

How is it struggling in movie gross when the last movie was the highest grossing one ever for the franchise?

It isn't. It's 'doing average'.
Highest grossing but really not by much plus I expected a better result from a movie where the author was involved.
