I cannot deal with this... I've been waiting for Zuisouroku to be localized but I totally did not realize they will pull something like "release for 3DS" //lays down on the floor. I need to calm my angry heart...

So this is just the same thing as the PSP release, but with a few extra tidbits right? Can someone clarify?

To answer your question, YES. This is the same thing, but with extras and side stories. The original game was: Hakuoki: Zuisouroku.

I'm SOO excited that this game is going to be localized!! ABOUT TIME, AKSYS, WE WANT MORE HAKUOUKI!!! (They DID say they were swimming in Hakuouki money, so it was about time this was announced.) I'm anticipating Okita's longer and more thorough route! (Since he's my bias after all.) Great, because I'll be getting a 3DS this summer!

First of all, I can sympathize.

This is likely part of a large deal that Aksys had to make in order to get any of the games. Since Aksys is currently the only game company that seemingly holds any interest whatsoever in licensing otome games, means that I will support this title.

Sure, there are other games I would rather have, but the (persnickity) Japanese licensing side of things is probably why we are getting what we are right now. I'm afraid that if we stop supporting this out of "protest", this little industry will die a premature death. That's the way I see it, though I wish this wasn't the reality right now. It certainly doesn't stop me from feeling like I'm being extorted.

As it is, Aksys probably thinks they are taking a risk with the upcoming Sweet Fuse: At Your Side (Bakudan★Handan), http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=5h7V9qlnHmA another Idea Factory game (as is the Hakuoki franchise, which makes me additionally suspicious of some sort of exclusive deal/stipulations at work here).

Aksys might even be testing the waters to see how much of the otome game audience owns a 3DS. ... I know a lot of women who bought a PSP just because of the first Hakuoki game, even though they had never previously been gamers in any way. I don't think it is fair to expect these particular fans to double dip on another system.

Okay, 3DS. You win. You *win*. With this announcement, and the fact that even though it's the original game (which I already have through the PSP version) it also comes with side stories, I think this officially pushes my list of 3DS games I want to play into the 'must get a 3DS category'. >.o Darn it. Fortunately most of the games I want are only announced and not released yet, so I can buy my replacement PS3 and still have time to save up for a 3DS... @.@ Being a gamer is expensive.

I feel your pain, though I must admit that the 3DS is a nice gaming system, and unlike Sony, reverse compatible. Though, if I were buying one again for the first time, I would go for the XL model.

I heard XSEED (https://www.facebook.com/XSEEDGames?hc_location=stream) might join in on the bandwagon and localize otome games too if they get enough noise.

I've been so used to the fact that when you mention "otome games" it's either PC or PSP - since majority of the games are all coming out for the PSP in Japan, so I wasn't expecting them to go and release this for the 3DS. _(:3
(Now I have to go get a 3DS... UGH... I'm so annoyed...)

Personally, I do think Bakudan★Handan being localized is a big risk... Though I've never played it, I wasn't very excited to play it when I first found out about it last year. I've heard from others it wasn't all that great either though... But that's their opinion so I'm taking it as a grain of salt.

This would be great if it happens. Not holding my breath, though.

I stand by my beliefs made on a post for Sweet Fuse quite a while ago. Though I am a heterosexual male who would love to have games like Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes and Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate localized, I'm just absolutely pleased that we're getting any of these games at all.

I'm definitely willing to double-dip on Hakuouki, purely because it was enjoyable and I want to see what the 3D is used for. Also, I want to show support for these sorts of games so that maybe, just maybe, we'll get some of the ones I've listed above, or even some of the other Otome games that have my interest (Amnesia, I'm looking at you!).

I don't care who these games are targeted for, I'm just a sucker for a good story, so I'm excited and will definitely let Aksys have some of my money here.

Also, women deserve games aimed for them too, especially ones that aren't purely for younger girls.

Except we have to help make noise for this to happen. So any of you other otome gamers would want to support it, go visit the page and make some noise. Very Happy

I will be passing the word along to my discussion groups. They are a pretty proactive, vocal bunch. I'm sure they will have suggestions of what to license as well. Very Happy

I honestly was surprised to see how much I enjoyed the original PSP release, seeing as I'm a guy and all. At first, it was mainly for the historical stuff as I'm a huge lover of that era of history but it the characters actually made me stick with it.

Okita and Kazama were totally-not my favorite characters, by the way. Laughing

I'll probably be buying this, even though I have the PSP release and don't have a 3DS, just to support the franchise in North America.

Just hoping that when I get a 3DS and this, that Chizuru actually does something USEFUL for once. Anime's second opening got me hyped for that only to get shamefully disappointed.
