Really interested in this one. It looks like Takahata is going for an almost pastel-watercolor style, which should lend itself well to the slow and beautiful nature of the original story. The most I am acquainted with this story (in regards to other media) is in the film Kwaidan and the Sailor Moon short story. I remember reading a CLAMP story inspired by it....hmm.... In any case, really hope this is Takahata's masterpiece. I've never been too much of a fan of his works (the only one I really liked was Grave of the Fireflies), so I'm trying to not set my expectations too high.
