According to the rightstuf description it's dub only.

I will buy this if there is a Japanese audio-English sub option. This show was always the best in the original Japanese incarnation.

Man, if this were subbed and uncut, I would be all over it.

Just like Digimon, it sounds like New Group Video's format of releases, and just like them, it'll be dub only Sad If only it was Discotek that got them... I LOVE how I own the subbed Pizza Cats sets, and will soon pickup the subbed Monster Rancher set!

If it's dub-only, it's possible then that the DVDs will be the edited-for-tv version.

Just like with this company's Digimon release, it's a given that this will be the edited English version. Since that's what's always been on mainstream TV, including now on Vortexx and Nicktoons, it makes sense (I don't know why anyone would think this company would release dub-only Digimon, and sub-only Yu-Gi-Oh!). Unlike other anime edited for broadcast like Bleach, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, and Sailor Moon S & SuperS, this was visually cut and edited from the begining. In those other examples, the show was edited for TV AFTER the dub was recorded, and could still be released bilingually.

I have the FUNi boxset, but I may consider eventually picking this up, since my set is in terrible condition. Although I've never been a huge fan of this show. I always found it to be a bit boring (like I've said elsewhere, at least the 4Kids dub had some camp value to it), and the card game had some crazy rules that I could never comprehend.

Toonzai's YGO DM subs were cancelled due to some legal issue with one of the seiyuu, so I doubt an uncut release is even possible anymore. I guess this is kinda neat in that GX and 5D's dubs have the potential to finally get released on disk though. And maybe the anniversary movie? I'd be all over that.

Even if Discotek got them, Konami of America would rather die then ruin the family friendly image of YGO in the states. If this is too much for them, then a show with death, blood, attempted rape and nudity would cause them to have an aneurysm. Don't want to scare away those soccer moms from buying their stuff for little Billy. I can only assume Monster Farm and Cat Ninden Teyandee got an uncut release because they are essentially dead franchises in America.

I'm pretty sure 4kids altered the footage of the show, at least to some degree. It would be difficult to have both a sub and dub release in one set, it was the same for Digimon. It's why Discotek has had separate releases for several of those older dubbed shows.

An uncut, dual-language set of the first season was released by Funimation sometime back, and many people (myself included) would love to have a rerelease (especially one with a proper translation, since I hear the original uncut release was "dubtitled").

That said, I'm sure this will be dub only, and I probably won't be buying it. Not that I even have a problem with dub only releases for titles like this, since there's nothing you can do about the editing, as you said, but with Yu-Gi-Oh... well, really I'm just looking to replace my bootleg subbed versions. Embarassed

It would be great, although unlikely, if somebody licensed Season Zero... Never gonna happen tho. That's definitely my favorite version of Yi-Gi-Oh!...

the only eps I don't have of this series are the last 10-15 from Season 4 that never made it to dvd. If they release it like Digimon though (every 2-3 months), I won't have to wait long before they get to that season.

I wonder what'll happen once they get to the last part of GX since those episodes never aired over here, let alone dubbed.

This has made me so happy! I was so upset I missed out on the older DVDs but now I can get it!
