*Crosses fingers and hopes* "Please let it continue to make more money and even better make release dates in Owensboro KY or Evansville IN, I need closer locations!!!"

And the limited release just keeps on chugging. Honestly, I'm really impressed that From Up on Poppy Hill has been doing so well in theaters. It looks like one of the most successful limited releases of an animated film in a long time. I wonder, could it actually make it to a million?

I can't wait to see it, it coming to my Campus theater on June 21. Very Happy

Id like to see it top a million. Honestly its a travesty that such a wonderful movie gets such a limited screening when something like Croods is blasted across 4,000 theatres, but I do realize that compared to other Ghibli movies Up On Poppy is a harder sell to kids as its basically a romantic drama.

This movie was pretty good, worth checking out if you get the opportunity.

It's made $928,999 so far. It can hit a million in a few weeks, and I expect it will.

Finally got to see this, at a discount theater in Washington last night. It was a late showing, subtitled, and there was a considerable crowd that had a few families and kids included.

The movie was very sweet and cute, if not a bit lightweight. Goro seems more suited to smaller films like this (and not things dealing with magic or scope, like Earthsea), though there were still times where he'd end a scene rather poorly (his transitions aren't the best). The source material and atmosphere are what worked best, and it was worthy of the Ghibli canon (much moreso than Arrietty).

As for the "twist," audiences kinda shifted when it came up. My friend started giggling, but generally people did well with it. The one thing I noticed is that while my friend and I chuckled at a lot of the humor in the film, the audience was dead silent. I get the impression a lot of it was cultural humor that thye wouldn't have gotten.

Who cares about selling it to bloody sprogs? Serves them right for watching an animated movie not made for them anyway. Rolling Eyes
