The science-fiction story of Asterion takes place in the year 2172, and follows a former galactic "boxball" star named Fishmann, who launches a quest with a young boy named Kameo to find the legendary fish Asterion. Fishmann, Kameo, and others board the prototype vessel Eratos to search for the mythical creature, which can grant wishes.

Animation is too expensive to fund through Kickstarter. Unless it's Flash-animated like most of what France makes, I don't see it faring any better.

That's not possible without a US or UK presence. This is primarily aimed at France, and there's not even an English version of the page.

The minimum goal is only about $21,000. $100,000+ goals are not uncommon on Kickstarter. Also, some projects manage to fund more than $1,000,000.

Also, this is just for a pilot.

Let me guess.

They're going to be pirates playing basketball isn't it? Oh boy, I can't wait for another one of these projects.

Hello to all,

Saddened for my Englishman ^^

I am the creator of Asterion. And I write to give you some details of the pilot of Astérion.
It is the project which I prepare for 2 years and I went to Japan to recruit good animator and make a partnership with the studio J.C staff.
But to make a pilot is very expensive. I thus passed by Kick starter, but as I was not American it was not possible. Then I took the French equivalent.
The pilot episode will be subtitled in English and I added on the site a page in English with all the explanations and the presents : http://www.ulule.com/asterion-sf/
Thank you for the interest that to carry you in this beautiful adventure. And if you have questions, I would answer it with pleasure.
see you soon

Maroin
