Their last announcement was the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray boxset release of Fate/Zero, which will also include an English dub

Naturally looking forward to this one! Hope they dub with the same cast for the third Madoka movie, when and if they release it.

The series [Silver Spoon] is directed by Tomohiko Ito (Sword Art Online) and will be streamed exclusively on Daisuki.

Aw crud, I was hoping it would be on Crunchyroll, so I could watch it on Roku or iPad. If it's on PC-only Daisuki, I'm not sure I'll bother.

Daisuki won't barge in on the streaming of other sites, huh?

I will probably still watch it but I am also disappointed.

One has to wonder which of the following is true:

1. The person that said that was out of the loop and obviously didn't know the real plan.

2. They changed their mind.

3. There was some sort of weird mis-translation.

4. They lied outright.

At least Aniplex is following the same "don't put all your streaming eggs in one basket" approach they did when NicoNico.com was in operation and doing simulcasts. As the article notes, CR got two Aniplex series (Servant x Service and il sole penetra le illusioni ~ Day Break Illusion), although Daisuki clearly got the better part of the deal.

Hopefully, as with Monogatari Second, CR will be allowed to stream it after a substantial delay.

I did not interpret the original Aniplex announcement to mean they would never have properties exclusive to Daisuki. I read it as meaning they will continue to license some shows to places like Crunchyroll as they did here. I would certainly expact Aniplex to stream everything through Daisuki in a decade's time if not sooner, just like I expect nearly all the major studios and Japanese distributors to join in as well.

The economies of scale in streaming make consolidation inevitable. Moreover the ability to discriminate by IP address gives the studios instant control over the distribution of their content without the need for foreign licensors. (Yes, "proxies, etc." That won't matter if you are watching a Daisuki app on a mobile device or watching on a set-top box.)

Crunchyroll proved the viability of subtitled streams, but there is no reason to think it will maintain its position in the marketplace over the years ahead. Maybe it will be bought out by Daisuki.

Someone got Monogatari Second Season and Silver Spoon mixed up as Silver Spoon only said "Streaming soon" with no mention of where.

Here's the full quote from Bamboo's original article:
Quote:
Also picked up earlier this year is the anime adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa's (Fullmetal Alchemist) Silver Spoon manga, which follows a boy's life in an agricultural school. The series is directed by Tomohiko Ito (Sword Art Online) and will be streamed exclusively on Daisuki.

I was following bayoab's live feed of the panel: There was no mention of who was streaming Silver Spoon.

Bamboo is showing a stunning lack of professionalism by not correcting this obvious error(and the only show where Daisuki is mentioned is Monogatari Second Season which is missing from Bamboo's report).
