How about getting them up digitally though your app, Kodansha?

I haven't watched the anime yet, but I plan to soon. If it's good, i'll definitely buy the manga. I suspect the anime ending will suck, since most anime-original endings do. So, i'll definitely want to start the manga.

I doubt it'll have an original ending. Given the show's popularity and the pacing, they'll definitely leave it open-ended for a second season (this coming from someone who reads the manga and has a good idea of where the anime will end).

But you should definitely read the manga if you have the chance. It's amazing, both story and art-wise.

Wouldn't this get us virtually close to caught up with Japanese releases? I like this Very Happy

Although, now we'll definitely be waiting at a staggered pace as them (for those who wait for the compilations definitely). We just don't get the monthly releases before the volumes are compiled right?

Well it figures that they'd speed up the releases. The series must be making oodles of money for them right now.

Given the pacing of the series so far, it's very possible to end it at the end of the spoiler[female-type titan] arc (spoiler tagged just in case) so I wouldn't guarantee an anime original ending (especially since they probably need to cover a lot of ground for an original ending that would be anywhere near satisfactory).

Well, that's something of a delight. Waiting sucks but nice to see this being sped up.

I would hope the quality of the releases doesn't suffer because of this.

I kind of doubt they will. Viz did pretty much the same thing with Naruto some years ago and the quality of the translations, as well as everything else, was very well done

Releasing a title 1 per month the same way as they do with Fairy Tail? Nice!

I think such kind of leave-you-hanging, loose threads, non-ending endings still suck, like most anime adaptations on continuing material. But then again, it's unavoidable, which is why I like to avoid certain popular manga-based or novel-based shows that are practically guaranteed to have another season.

I guess it's designed to make you buy the source material and luckily this manga is also licensed.

According to this Kodansha is actually abandoning their dedicated iOS app in favor of publishign content via iBooks, Nook, and Kindle.

I'm now glad I never made use of the app.

I do hope buying digital manga via Kindle will be as painless as possible concerning reading on iOS devices.

I recently discovered that Viz sold their Mature titles digitally via Nook, and was dismayed to discover that the iOS Nook app doesn't support manga purchases. WTF
