Glad I can skip this helmet set and wait for the Lightspeed Rescue-whatever season mega set they plan to put out next.

98 DVDs in a collectible helmet case(are they stackpacking it?)? That is going to be one hefty price tag on it.

Nickelodeon has no use for Power Rangers anymore (note the many pre-emptions, continuously low ratings, strange scheduling, some of the other live-action shows have failed over the years) and it's not coming back to the Vortexx block.

One could argue that Nick has strange scheduling even for their more popular shows. Like with iCarly, showing 6 episodes, taking a four month break, and then showing the last 9 as a "new season".

Or TMNT, while not as bad, is still a bit weird.
12 episodes followed by a month and a half break, 4 episodes then an unexplained switch to a biweekly schedule for 6 episodes, a three and a half month break before showing the last 4 episodes which appear to be back on the weekly schedule.

From what I hear, Saban's not going to continue with Nick after SMF. The whole "every series must be 2 seasons of 20 episodes (plus specials)" doesn't work for them, when each series needs to be around 40 episodes on their own, and stretching it to 2 years means we get strange truncating and combining of seasons, or getting further behind Japan. As it is, unless they combine Go-Busters and Kyoryuger, by the time SMF is over, we'll be 3 seasons behind Japan (GB, Kyoryu, and whatever comes after Kyoryu, with the season after that starting).

Now, if they go to Vortexx with new stuff, or shop it somewhere else, I haven't heard.

But remember what happened to reruns of Lost Galaxy back in January.

I'm not too surprised. Power Rangers is a shell of it's former self in terms of popularity and sales It seems lately they rely more and more on nostalgia gimmicks to appeal to the adults who grew up on Zyuranger. At this rate, if they get to Kyoryuger, I wouldn't put it past them to make that some kind of remake or sequel to Zyuranger/Mighty Morphin' with how much they're milking that first season out with re-release toys, comic book continuations (even though the story already concluded from what I recall), and bringing back the first series actors. It's a bit sad to see the franchise being reduced to relying on nostalgia to survive like Voltron and Robotech seem to keep doing.

@TitanXL Zyuranger was never shown in the USA. Stop trying to connect Power Rangers and Super Sentai together. The only things they share are some stock footage, as well as later series being CLOSER to Super Sentai. It's like saying Zeta Gundam is like Macross, because they both utilize transforming mechas, which happen to be faster than the rest, as well as both being mecha anime. Last time I checked, Johnny Yong Bosch wasn't in Zyuranger, not was Alpha 5, nor was ability to teleport to plains, nor was Zordon, nor was Lord Zedd, nor was some extra footage that was never in Zyuranger, Bulk and Skull, the music, you get the point. Additionally, Toei considers the Power Rangers franchise a separate unity, which they are.

...No it's not. Power Rangers is an adaption of sentai which uses footage from it. You can't pretend it's it's own entity when it borrows half it's footage from the original show and elements from the original find its way into the adaption because of using said footage. It's an adaption whether we like it or not.

That's stretching it a bit. I wouldn't say half of stock footage in any given episode of Zyuranger is incorporated into MMPR. Also, do you know what an adaptation is?

Quote:
From Wikipedia

Quote:
Literary adaptation is the adapting of a literary source (e.g. a novel, short story, poem) to another genre or medium, such as a film, a stage play, or even a video game.

E.G Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame. Whether you love or you hate it(and there is no in-between for this movie) it is an adaptation since it takes the characters from the novel and "tweaks" them to become what it is. Same with Ghibli's Howl's Moving Castle, which is SIMILAR to HOND in the love it or hate it category, but it still is a LOOSE adaptation of the British book, though it does stray away. Power Rangers on the other hands is about this

Quote:
What MMPR is about

Quote:
The series begins with five teenagers combating Rita and her seemingly endless array of monsters. However, consecutive failures lead Rita to adopt a new method for conquering Earth and destroying the Power Rangers: by attacking them with one of their own.

Quote:
Zyuranger is about

Quote:
Five young warriors from an ancient civilization of Dinosaur-evolved Humans (恐竜人類 Kyōryū Jinrui?) are awakened during the present day after 170 million years of suspended animation when their sworn enemy, Bandora the Witch, is inadvertently released from her magical container on Planet Nemesis by two astronauts. The five warriors, the Zyurangers, must summon the power of mechanical-looking deities known as Shugozyu, each modeled after a different prehistoric beast, in order to protect mankind from Bandora's evil forces. A sixth warrior, Burai the Dragon Ranger, later becomes involved with the conflict between the Zyurangers and Bandora's forces.

Yeah, similar, right? Laughing

Stock footage aside, it's not an adaptation. It is 60-70% original at the LEAST.

I don't think it's right to judge how Saban would handle Kyoryuger based on what they are doing for the 20th anniversary of Power Rangers.

It's more their handling of the entire franchise for awhile now. They're really pushing this nostalgia binge for the original 'Mighty Morphin', from all this merchandise to re-airing it to actually pushing some old actors in the newer shows (Bulk, Tommy, etc) and usually companies only do that when they're trying to ride the nostalgia train for some easy cash. It just feels like they know the only people who care about it anymore are the adults who grew up on it as kids.
