Okay, I'll bite. I do really like Black Jack, though I'm a bit skeptical it's going to make it to the goal in just a day. Confused

This kind of conditional stuff annoys me a bit.

"Pay out for this and you'll get the chance to pay out for something else!!"

Pledges sure have jumped up recently, though. People waiting until the last minute to chip in? That didn't happen with all the funding drives that failed, though.

Did they finally stop relying entirely on word-of-mouth to advertise their super-niche website?

Why the hell not do this sooner? There's only one day left.

Yeah, it's a little late. I never even heard of this website until now, let alone they were crowdfunding and streaming Black Jack. Oh well, I did the $65 thing. I wonder what's in this grab bag and how many episodes we're going to get on this set?

Someone from the site was a guest on the ANNCast around when the site launched in may.

I decided to pledge. Really hope they can extend the time frame and advertise it on CR. I'd spread the word on mania too

Back in May they posted a sample of grab bag items for Black Jack to their Facebook page. Each box set is going to come with 13 episodes, in this case episodes 0 to 12, and each goal will go toward one particular set in sequential order.

I like that they will look to add the Black Jack OVA series to the site eventually. I just hope they don't do it while the original TV series is still having its pledge run. Don't add competition with similar titles that will compete for their own audience! It's already tough enough to get these things funded. I've enjoyed Black Jack the most from the site's offerings so far, so more of it is always welcome.

Are you talking about the OVAs? Because if you pay $40, then you don't have to pay again to get the first set.

I'm curious if Anime Sols is gonna be anything but the official US Creamy Mami distributor. They really need to advertise more if they want to succeed. I know they were looking into getting Oniisama e... to use, and I think that'd succeed, but I don't know about much else.

And it's a shame Tekkaman didn't succeed. That was only 26 eps...

I just recently acquired the 10 OVAs that CPM already released on DVD years back. The DVDs actually aren't expensive if you looks on sites like Amazon or Ebay.

That said, I do want the last 2 OVAs (which were released in Japan very recently), but I don't want to pledge for some that I already own most of.

I am planning to pledge for for the 1st set of Black Jack TV though, now that it looks like it has a chance.

I do wish it were independent of this TV series succeeding, I think most people who know of Black Jack would have preferred the OVA over all. I agree with above statements, I think it's kinda BS that they're doing it this way, and that they wait until there's less than 30 hours to go.

They started advertising, also that Mami and Black Jack have always been the most likely to succeed, they've always had higher dollar amounts than the other candidates. And yeah, I think they're advertising on CrunchyRoll, hence the higher numbers of pledges and not just more money.

I am talking about the OVAs. If the first TV set is funded, they say they'll do the OVAs sometime, as if in reward. The reward for giving money is the chance to give more money. And what if you want the OVAs but not the TV series?

Since Anime Sols switched Tekkaman off at episode 13, I resorted to dodgy Hong Kong fansubs to finish the series. It literally does not have an ending. It wasn't popular and got cancelled and they weren't even able to spend a whole episode dashing to a quick conclusion. It just stops. I would have been really sore to have paid $80 to get to that point.

I'll admit it's not really much of a "reward", but a lot of people have been asking us if we'd do the new OVAs so consider the reward being a confirmed announcement of that.

And Tekkaman's end... Actually there is an ending, but you'd only get it if you had pledged at the $500 level! I'm only half kidding, see, the "project proposal" extra included in that package is a copy of the original story outline and show concept that's ~25 pages and includes how the story was originally supposed to end. Ah well, guess no one will ever know now. *sigh*

EDIT: With 2 hours remaining Black Jack has reached it's goal and is now on overtime.
Black Jack fans still have time to pledge!
