The story and these fan costumes look and sound dumb. The game though, it looks pretty good. Maybe they will actually deliver this time.

Am I the only one who thinks that Squeenix is trying too hard to make us care?
I mean, I LOVE my cameo costumes in Tales series games,... ... but all these that they just keep on and keep on releasing more of them for Lightning is getting annoying. One, maybe two, is fine, but what are you trying to sell the game only to Final Fantasy fans that want to be nostalgic about all the characters from the previous games by continuously showing costumes while they're playing a new game? ......Really, to me, it's starting to get insulting. "Oh, so you'd like a remake or a hd-remaster of FF6 of FF7; nah, but here is Lightning wearing costumes that characters from FF7 wore. Yeah, we know we should have make FF13 a more -complete- game instead of making a mess with a total of 3 games in the series to get a -full- story, but, oh, here is a costume from FFX just for measure. We'll release about 20 others via DLC later for about $5 a piece. ...Oh, and here's a trailer for FF15 that shows only 2 more snips of gameplay and still no hint on release." (that's about how I"m reading all this BS about FF13-3). |

FF13 was the first Final Fantasy title that I actively disliked. I still can't bring myself to play 13-2 and adding more and more costumes just keeps taking it away from the core of what Final Fantasy is. The gameplay and story. The trailers just seem to want to show off how you can dress up your character, I can't wait to see exactly how many micro transactions they can add to the game.
That being said, when I saw the headline I just wanted to see Lightning in Aerith's outfit getting skewered by Sephiroth. For the most part, I got what I was looking for. |

But EVERYONE advertises alternate outfits with trailers before the release of the game. It's all advertising and it's just how the market works, especially in recent years. And speaking of costumes, it looks like she can change costume at will. I believe some costumes come with certain weapons or techniques? Does that mean that our strategies will also focus around that?

Aerith, I thought she was Cloud. And no Tifa to be found. Well, don't know if that would be a good idea.

She's got a Cloud costume, too... and Yuna from FFX. Kinda going overkill on the cameo. |

I already know that she has a Cloud costume, that was just a statement in contrast to the fact that the Aerith costume came up. And I'll agree that this is overkill. If this is their excuse to toss in some FF7 since they don't plan on making a new one. |

I can see why Lightning has Aerith as a costume:they share a voice in Japan, Maaya Sakamoto. It's a little nod to that.
