Okay, before I yell at you, can you tell me exactly what you mean by "animation"? In my experience a good number of people use "animation" to mean "art style" because they are incredibly, ridiculously, amazingly, utterly ignorant. |

As someone who has been studying animation for the past 2 years, I can quite confidently say that the animation shown in this trailer is far from being "shyte." Animate means "to bring to life" and the characters really are animated with a lot more life then any anime I've seen from the past two years (not including movies). You may not like the art style (I personally think it looks absolutely rad) but saying the animation looks shyte is just ridiculous. |

The animation isn't terrible, but it's definitely not great either. Needs at lot more in-betweens. I say the same for Gurren Lagann. Note that I do like the style for these. Little Witch Academia has much better animation and Trigger admitted themselves that such good animation is not possible on a TV budget (at least for them). However, other studios manage to get by or perhaps are given more resources. The actions scenes in Attack on Titan are much better and Copellion so far looks awesome animation wise. |

I disagree. Although it may not be as fluid because it doesnt have as many in betweens, it's the extreme poses and breakdowns that give it life and require skill. Attack on titan may have really well animated fight scenes but the character performance animation is down right bad. With kill la kill and gurren lagann we get animation that has flavor, each character is animated specifically to enforce their personalities, while most animes like snk rely on stock type animation especially in dialogue scenes. TTGL had great action animation too, and it looks like KLK will as well. |

If your stuff has fluid animation doesn't necessary mean is good animation. Iso Mitsuo work use very few drawings and is still more amazing than a lot of Disney stuff.
Like Gurren Lagan this show is using Kanada style, and Kanada was god. You just need to see young Justice or 2003 he-man to know what I'm talking about, the animation has a lot of frames but is not that good. PD: Japanese animators are the masters of frame modulation. |

You know, Trigger WANTS to use more frames but can't. This was implied in their stated reason for not being able to extend LWA2 more than 5 mins: not only because LWA takes more resources to maintain the level of quality, which they said is not possible on a TV budget, but because the same team is also working on Kill La Kill!
Expressive keys certainly help, but only work to bring the animation up to the level of acceptable. You can only "cheat" so much with a lack of tweening. You need in-betweens to get it to the level of greatness. (However, exaggerated poses, intentionally distorted keys, speed lines, etc, are not always a good thing, and is very much dependent on context. In some context, more stillness is better such as in more natural character interaction sequences) |

Well sure who wouldn't want to work with more frames? The thing is the animators at trigger know how to work with their limitations so well that their limitations literally disappear and actually give it it's own unique animation style(I'd describe it as springy and full of life). Having less inbetweens overall allows them to be able to focus not only on action scenes but the actual character performances. I'm sure KLK will have times where there is character stillness, but most likely the characters will be posed in certain ways to help express their mental state. No one just stands face forward shoulders forward shoulders level etc in real life, next time you in a crowded space look at the people around you, I guarantee they won't be in stock emotionless poses we see in a lot of animes. Gurren Lagann's animation was greatness, and it had better animation then any anime that came out this year, including attack on titan. |

Well, Attack on Titan is a flat out ugly and mostly poorly animated show. It doesn't deserve one single bit of praise.

This is Imaishi we're talking about here,the guy who when he directed the CG fight scenes of the Black Rock Shooter TV show asked animators to take out in betweens because he thought the scenes were too fluid. I'd be willing to bet that if he had directed LWA and not Yoshinari it would have looked different. |

It's nice to know that you think your opinion is so much more credible than anybody else's. Seriously, get off your high horse and accept that the world doesn't revolve around your opinions. I agree that the animation (when it's even there) isn't always stellar, but they really go all out with those action scenes. |
