Agreed. I would have figured with all the awards it has won an now an anime adaptation (which has been licensed for US distribution by Aniplex!) would be enough, but alas! "Tis not so.
I guess I can kind of understand. A manga about a boy going to a farm school might seem like a tough sell (and require a considerable amount of research to follow up on what they talk about). Del Rey tried with Moyasimon, but ended up falling to the wayside when Kodansha "took over" (along with Yozakura Quartet! Curse them!) My major concern is that, since it's being published by Shueisha, if Viz doesn't pick it up, I don't know if anyone else can. I know I'd pay so pretty decent money to have those volumes on my shelf. |

Same problem though. Shogakukan and Shueisha license exclusively to Viz. |

The article says Shueisha! (*quickly runs to Wikipedia*) Huh. Shogakukan. You know, I thought that was weird, but I trusted ANN to have that kind of detail posted accurately. Oh well. In any case, st_owly is right. It's still on Viz's shoulders to pick this up. My concern is that if they do, they'll only publish it digitally, and I am not a fan of digital comics. I'm just old school like that. |

I'd rather have it hard copy but I guess if it was a Kindle release I'd buy it. I am upset Viz hasn't picked it up yet. I understand they might be wary about the subject, but I am sure it being a manga by Arakawa would help sell it. |

This manga seriously needs a second season... Loved the first season, love the manga, will probably hate the live action (never really cared for live action since I feel they ruin the ""feel" of the series more than they add to it) and hope a second longer season is planned

^ AFAIK, Silver Spoon has a second season coming up this winter. I'm really looking forward to it!
Silver Spoon is great material for a live action film, compared to, say, Attack on Titan. I can see how fantasy and scifi manga don't translate to film well because Japanese film makers rarely have the SPX budget Hollywood has, but more realistic stories can have enjoyable adaptations. Honey & Clover and Love*Com both had pretty good live-action movies. But Silver Spoon is much less likely to be released state side than those were... |
