The DMM link is region-blocked outside of Japan btw.

You can use a proxy like: http://web-proxy-jp-tk-1.idcloak.com/
then enter: http://www.dmm.com/netgame/feature/gargantia.html

From the description, it does not sound like this game will get any new animations or scenes.

Game sounds interesting, I wonder if they'll export it outside the Japan.

Intentionally limiting your market like this is completely against any sane economic idea. Only a Japanese company would go "hey, Foreigners are playing our game despite the language barrier" and go "block 'em". Gaijin money's as legit as Japanese money...

While I share your frustration in how many japanese companies treat non-japanese customers (particularly those who create model figures), in a very simplistic sense, limiting your market makes some sense -- at least in the online gaming aspect.

Out of whose pocket will localization fees, staff funding and server rental fees will it come out of? Comparing that then to how many players the company will be expecting outside of japan plus random formulas that people use to calculate how much revenue they expect to rake in from each player, and they have the decision made for them on whether or not to service outside of japan.

That said, they're providing services for Japan and Japan only, this includes any problems that may arise regarding events, billing, etc and when a user outside of the serviced area encounters these problems, you've got an auditorial mess. It is much easier to simply block out non-japanese ips than to go and individually prune out accounts.
