Aka Evangelion movie delay #34556. Manga sure loves to delay the Eva movies, don't they? Especially since both movies have been avalible at stores for over a year.

Personally I'd just go out and buy the dvds that are out right now. I don't think Manga is going to add any new extras to it, IMO.

Well if the Eva special edition is the original version of Death and Rebirth i recommend waiting. The original D&R is almsot a 1/2 hour longer and the tempo/editing is a bit nicer.

I saw both in Japanese theaters and I know are far preferred the original version of Death to the later released Death True which was cut down so the Revival of Evangelion theatrical screenings (which ran Death and then the End of Eva movies back to back) wouldn't be 4 hours long Surprised

lord of the rings didn't mine making the DVD 4 hours, manga might do the same... :/

I would say that it's a typo, but it's Manga, the king of delaying releases until as humanly late as possible.

Dunno about this one, but the original delays were reportedly because Gainax gave them crappy masters and were very uncooperative when Manga asked for something better. Given all the horror stories from other companies trying to deal with Gainax, I don't think that's too far fetched.

Well, considering how badly Manga has alienated its customer base, I can see why ADV Films got the license back to release the Director's Cut version of the last episodes of the television series.

As far as Gainax goes, I didn't see any companies having problems with the release of two of thier other titles: FLCL and Nadia of the Mysterious Seas. I just think it was Manga.

I'm pretty sure the American release of FLCL was pushed back several months because of bad masters.

At one con a Pioneer rep said they couldn't do a box for the series because Gainax wouldn't let them (though the lack of a box was later blamed on low sales by another rep).

A remaster of Wings of Honneamise is being held up by the current source master being in terrible shape, and Gainax demaning absurd amounts of money for coughing up a new one. This has been confirmed by Australian Madman Entertainment, who deemed Mangas' master too bad to even attempt to do a release.

RightStuf unknowingly got the TV version of KareKano, which is missing some footage from the home video version. When they inquired about getting the latter, they were told that that version was not available for licensing. The RightStuf rep also made it clear that Gainax has a history of being dificult to deal with, and you usually have to take what they decide to give you.
