Hey, look, classic series getting turned into the one of the major problems with the anime industry today. What a shock.

*sigh*

I just hope that the girls aren't the GIGANTIC pricks they were in the original promo. Man, I was rooting for the "bad guys" who stole food because they were hungry and were savagely beaten.

Edit: saw the promo. I'll be rooting for the bad guys. I fact, I don't think I can watch this. I don't know why Japan finds this stuff funny. Why is it amusing to beat the shit out of someone? They didn't exactly play it for laughs in the original promo, since the bad guys were begging for mercy, and were visibly hurt and in pain. How is that funny?

Ah yes, someone complaining about "classic" anime being ruined. Because totally this is a violation of the high standards Mazinger Z always strove for

Apollo-kun, when you say "one of the major problems with the anime industry today", you catually mean "the things that sell in the anime industry today", right?

Well yes, and I kinda agreed with Apollo-kun.

Well you are both completely clueless then.

I'm 100% sure we were supposed to be rooting for the "bad guys" there.

Well I stop watching moe after they focus more on fanservice rather then the story.

That's completely meaningless. Also has nothing at all to do with this show. Why even mention that in this context?

Also lol complaining about fanservice in a Mazinger property

Yes, 'problems'.

Of course, by saying that, you must have set some arbitrary ideal of what anime should be. Anything that doesn't align itself according to your own world view must of course be problematic and should be purged from the face of this Earth. Reminds me of a certain German chancellor from the 1940s...

Interesting comment. I don't disagree that there has been a shift from a focus on narrative to a focus on characters when Japan moved into the post-modern era, but the fan-service has always been there. Please don't conflate the two. Time to remove those rose-tinted glasses of yours and watch some classic Wicked City and Violence Jack.

More on topic, am I the only one who thinks that this is awesome? Not only is it mecha-musume, it's like the fusion of 2 of the greatest aspects of 2 eras and genres of anime and otaku culture. Definitely something that should be celebrated as opposed to condemned.

My favorite 80s Super Robot is the Getter Robo, so I can't wait to see how they handle her. Also, a moe remix of the classic SR themes too, please! (^o^)

I've never been a fan of big robo shows especially older series, but this looks to be really fun. I probably won't get the insider jokes, but if it's silly I'm all in.

I love that they have Getter Robo. It would be nice if they could get more later-gen robots down the road like Ideon.

The pilot was actually pretty funny. Put aside your moe hate for a second, and give it a chance.

Imagine a mecha-musume EVA, or a Valkyrie or an Arm Slave or a Knightmare.
