Could have at least had alternate outfits instead of just simple palette swaps, such as maybe Asuna's Fairy Dance outfit or the dress Shana was made to wear when she was being held in the Serei-den.

That would have involved entire new Sprite moveset, Hence the palette swap.

I imagine this game will somehow surface on one of the Sony game consoles next year... most likely PS3 unless the developer feels compelled to push PS4 development.

There were quite a few anime-/visual novel-based fighting games released on PS2 well after PS3 launch.

I wouldn't expect development to be pushed for PS4/XBox One until at least the second year (2015) of each console.

There is still some life left in the past generation of consoles. With near hundred percent certainty you can be that the push will be to port Dengeki Bunko to the PS3...

I personally hope this turns out to be a decent fighting game. I wasn't that impressed by AquaPazza to be honest but was glad that game received at least a budget disc release in the States. (That cushioned the blow on the reality of that game's general mediocrity play-wise... Still prefer physical disc product to downloads!) Persona 4 Arena was decent and Arcana Heart 3 was pretty good, too.

The last anime-based fighter that really impressed me was the Fate/Unlimited Codes fighter on PS2. The US missed a very nice fighting game there that happened to be based on an anime/visual novel franchise! Yes, the game got a digital release on PSP in the US but that port was neutered compared to the PS2 version which was superior to the original arcade game.

You do realize that that would take a whole new sprite set?

And that sprite sets can take literally hundreds of hours for one character? It's literally drawing THOUSANDS of images over again just for an alternate costume. It's a much smarter idea to put that work to a new character.

2D sprite FGs always use palette swaps, and honestly what's so bad about that? Nowadays you have literally 10+ colors at your disposal. Plus nowadays they tend to be references as well.

Ah, I missed that. I hope that doesn't mean Taiga isn't going to appear at all. If Boogiepop and Holo are in there, Taiga must have a shot.

Yes, it requires work but when the game basically exists for fanservice (y'know, bringing loads of Bunko characters together, not the "other kind") it would have been a really nice addition. Also, considering that 3D fighting games can have multitudes of alternate costumes but 2D ones can't? Ultimately, it's not a big deal (like I'm going to have a chance to play with enough people to warrant alternate costumes) but it would have been a nice touch.

On an unrelated note, I've been thinking this since the initial gameplay video was released but...doesn't Shana seem a bit too tall?

I wonder which stage from Sonic will be featured within this title?
Green Hill? Emerald Coast? Route 99...?
...or perhaps even the mystic-themed Chaos Angel?

On a side note, it seems that Shana must have grown up a few inches...

The reason why 3D FGs have alternate costumes is because all you do is make one new model in 3 days and then rig it to the animations for the character.

That is FAR different than spending literally hundreds of hours to make a 2D spritesheet by drawing literally thousands of images. It takes 5 MONTHS to make a new Skullgirls character. Just one.

Take a closer look at Kirino's screen-shots. It's spoiler[Green Hill Zone].

In that case, it seems that some of the people that buy this title may find themselves looking up the origin of this stage over on YouTube...

Will this stage feature the 16-bit soundtrack, or will a modernized version of it be used instead?
