Quoted for truth. Wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't get adapted into PR.

Especially when you consider how much cooler looking tokusatsu villains (and to a less extent, heroes) have gotten in recent years.

Who cares about PR, it's uncool with or without the suits.

As a tokusatsu fan, I see so many red flags with this show.

The script writer worked on Attack on Titan, so we can expect decent writing, but the director worked on Kamen Rider Wizard. Oh, boy. Wizard was boring; I hope the writing makes up for it.

Second: train enthusiasts. Oh, boy--again. I don't want to be an alarmist, and we all know that the main demographic for this show will always be kids, but that line worries me. That sounds like the kind of thing that might drag a show down. This might not mean anything else except for certain train-zords looking very similar to real-life engines, which is fine, but nobody got into Boukenger because BoukenRed's mech looked like a Land Rover Defender-90. C'mon, Toei, keep it simple. If you make it (fun, that is), they will come.

I can only hope that this show keeps up Kyoryuger's sense of wild fun. I'd hate to see Go-Buster's dreary boredom be brought back. I am so worried for this show, and I hope Toei proves me wrong.[/i][/b][/u]

It's too bad they chose to go that way. A train-themed series could have way more stylish costumes if they had thought more of drawing on modern or historical train conductor uniform designs. I don't know what kind of railfan they expect to attract with this kind of design ... maybe just 5 year olds, but then they might be turning off the adult-railfan-with-money demographic.

The only factor in it not being adapted is if Power Rangers dies off before then, which it just might at this rate. People also said Goseiger wouldn't be adapted due to the heavy religious/God themes but they found a way. Saban are masters at their craft of altering Japanese anime and toku.

I don't have an issue with the designs as much as other people do. I like them more than Goseiger's, but I've always had a personal preference of disliking designs which showcase a visible mouth. Also I tend to prefer designs where the white sections aren't over-done, and Goseiger's were mostly white compared to their primary color.

What worries me is a director from Kamen Rider Wizard being attached. Wizard for me has been the least interesting Kamen Rider for me and I hope the same problems it had won't transition over to Tokkyuger. I really enjoyed Koichi Sakamoto's work on Fourze and Kyoryuger. That man knows how to have fun with toku.

@Guile Considering the fact Power Rangers and Super Sentai are not the same thing, it's not really and apples and apples comparison. It's an apples and oranges, since the only major things included are the suits and the villains. Power Rangers adds in more things than it "alters." Comparing Power Rangers to something like Robotech, Voltron or the like is not comparable, since Power Rangers isn't SUPPOSED to be like Super Sentai. Last time I checked, the plots of Robotech and Voltron were still the same as their original versions to an extent.

Too lazy to quote multiple people, so just commenting based on subjects.

1) Power Rangers - Provided Power Rangers is still around in 3-6 years (depending on if Go-Busters and Kyoryuger are 1 or 2 seasons, if it's still on Nick), Saban is contractually required to adapt Tokkyuger. They cannot skip a season.

2) Staff/Cast
Yasuko Kobayashi - Besides Attack on Titan and Shinkenger, Kobayashi has also done (tokusatsu only, as head writer) Gingaman, Timeranger, Go-Busters, Kamen Rider Ryuki, Kamen Rider Den-O, Kamen Rider OOO, and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. Of note here are the 3 Kamen Rider series, of which 2 are some of the highest regarded, the third is a) my second favorite, and b) also involves trains.

Can't find much on the director, sadly.

Interesting point on Riria (Tokkyu 3/Yellow), is that she was on the J-drama adaptation of Bloody Monday. As was Takeru Satoh, who played Kamen Rider Den-O.

Ryusei Yokohama (Tokkyu 4/Green) was Meteor's friend in Kamen Rider Fourze.

3) The Suits - A lot of people have been commenting on the suits since the first pictures came out, and a lot of people have a) been noting that with better images, the suits are looking better, and b) realizing that with the ability to swap powers and such, they need to be simple to easily change from one suit to another.

At this point, I never want to see the word "force" used in a Power Rangers title again.

Same goes for "super", but that can't be helped now.

This, it's the reason why they didn't just skip to Gokaiger for the 20th ani stuff. They have to adapt every season and with their contract with Nick in place till 2015 at min we'll get 20 ep seasons no matter what which will keep forcing the we need to switch what show we use format like what's happening with Megaforce.

Also I for one am looking forward to Tokkyuger, the fact is they're doing a lot of call backs to Carranger with the designs and how the team is being set up. Which will be interesting to watch.

Huh, with the exception of Go-Busters--which was dull enough to compliment Wizard--that guy's got a pretty solid body of work. Even if it comes at the expense of being too silly, I hope some of that Den-O irrelevance comes through. Anything besides what Wizard and Go-Busters had to offer.

Thanks for bringing this up.

My point exactly. Conductor uniforms would have been recognizable to kids...they ride trains too in Japan.

FWIW, only children and otaku watch tokusatsu, and they both love trains, so I guess it's all good.
