I NEED THIS

One of the best shows of my childhood. Unfortunate that the dub cut a lot of stuff... would be neat if they re-dubbed it.

Cool I watched this when it first aired on tv, but I have never seen the original Japanese version. I may have to pick this up when it comes out.

The boxset with all 73 episodes will be released "at some point in the future."

Discotek, ladies and gentlemen.

I can't hold it against them, though. I appreciate them too much for releasing weird stuff.

Ahh, Monster Rancher: the show where we heard Andrew Francis' voice change from a boy to a man.

So I'm guessing that this subtitled set will be officially called "Monster Farm"; I was under the impression that that name was trademarked over here, therefore "Rancher".

I want this. This was one of the best "children" anime I've see. I use "children" because well... it was pretty dark for a children's cartoon. All the deaths, and whippings, and suffering...

Also, Wataru Takagi is great as always!

I thought there was only 26 episodes to this series. FOX use to change the time they broadcast the last episode and I had to use my VHS to see the last episode. so it was 73 episodes anyone knows how much the whole series will cost. I use to get up to watch the series every week it was broad cast. Looking forward to the DVD debut. Surprised

Oh, Monster Rancher. I loved my Mon shows back in the day. I used to watch this one on ABCFamily at 7 am before school every morning. They always skipped the "boss battles" episodes, which was really, really annoying, but at least I eventually got to see the last episode. I think? There are way more episodes of this show than I thought...

I'll be interested to see how much this box set is going to cost.

This will bring back some good memories. Smile A friend of mine used to be big on the game before he passed from cancer, but at least his memory for me will live on with this series.

I am seriously pleased that this show is finally going to be released uncut. I loved the dub as a kid but some of the edits done to the show were annoying. Mad

From my understanding, all the episodes got dubbed. However, the first 26 episodes were shown ad nauseum on YTV in Canada and FOX for a few years. YTV eventually showed episodes 27-48 but 49-73(?) aired in the UK (I don't recall if the episode "Of War and Hate" ever got dubbed). FOX's Canadian affiliate also aired 27-35 but pulled the show abruptly without any explanation. I couldn't care less about the FOX broadcast though considering that they did additional edits to fit in more commercial time.

Another thing to note is that episode 27 supposedly never aired on U.S. FOX affiliates but the Canadian FOX affiliate did show 27.

Hey now, Monster Rancher was one of Ocean's better dubs with the actors' voices actually fitting their characters (albeit Terry Klassen being obviously overused). It's not Ocean's fault that they had to contend with a watered down script.
