So Sentai marks the next big company to enter into the Premium Edition game.

Say what you will about Chunibyo, but it certainly is a very *pretty* show. A nice chipboard artbox and an art booklet certainly would compliment it quite nicely.

Also nice to see that they have in fact decided to dub it. Apparently enough people complained about the sub-only release that they decided to bite the bullet and do it. Good to see that they're still planning to put out the sub-only DVDs for those who don't want to wait for it, though.

Now that Sentai is officially doing their own set of premium releases, what shows would you like to see them give the premium treatment? Personally, I've been secretly wanting a collector's edition of HOTD for some time now.

I don't know how this show would work with a dub. But I'm glad it's getting one! I had already pretty much decided to buy this series but that definitely pushes me towards picking it up. As long as it won't be super expensive.

It's nice to see companies like this listening to the fans. I hope to see more things like this in the future!

No. Just, no. I can't even imagine the extreme awfulness that this dub will bring upon us. Also, Greg Ayres will make a terrible Yuuta, although Monica Rial will probably be the lone bright spot as Rikka. Y'know, just like every other Sentai dub.

This go-back-and-dub-it approach has happened with a couple of their releases now, right? Clannad and Maria Holic come to mind.

I wonder if setting this kind of precedent is going to hurt sales up front… if viewers think "Y'know, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU seems like the thing they might go back and dub, so I'm going to hold off buying it for now…"

Most of the time, they'll only go back and dub a show if the subbed version already sold fairly well, or if one of the foreign licensors like Manga UK or Madman wants them to. Chunibyo is really the only exception to this rule where they actually made the decision *before* the release even came out.

If anything, this helps alleviate my suspicions of them doing a sub-only release for Watamote. Hopefully that one will get a premium edition as well. Very Happy

I'll be frank. I haven't checked on the QC of Sentai releases since the Kids on the Slope debacle. Is it safe to buy their releases now? Especially now that they're entering the premium edition market...

According to "Right Stuf," the BD sub-only release has been cancelled in favor of this upcoming premium edition release. DVD sub-only version is still available, and they will update their site with the premium edition product page when they can.

Just a tip to pass along.

Hopefully their QC will be tighter than ever on their first LE.

As for the dub, I'll probably give it a try, but the last dub that didn't send me scrambling for the sub track was Kill Me Baby(probably because they really only needed three, maybe four professionals).

No no no. I'm just making fun of how often Greg Ayres and Monica Rial are cast as the leads in Sentai dubs. I'm being sarcastic and I have absolutely no information of any sort.

Limited Edition Numbered Premium Box Set

From Sentai Filmworks?

Shocked

I guess it was really just a matter of time seeing how everyone else is trying out the format. I genuinely hope they do this well, and don't rush it all to hell. Subs need to be good, and true to their original meaning without americanizing it, that's what the dub is for Laughing. Video & Audio also has got to be top notch.

If that happens, I will support Sentai by buying it, that's for sure Very Happy!

I hope we'll get a booklet & possibly some other goodies along with the box, as KyoAni does produce some really nice visuals Smile.

I'm almost willing to bet money, almost, that Greg will be Makoto.

Satisfied that Chūnibyō is finally getting an English version after years of popular demand.
I've no doubt the voice acting will be fantastic. I just hope Sentai will avoid making that same mistake that they've made with Season 2 of AKB0048.

The problem with this is that the subtitled-only version is only listed as "DVD" on their tumblr post today. "A DVD for the subtitled version will still release this May" or something like that. So we get punished for something we dont want and that will probably be terrible because an anime like this with so much culture almost always gets translated bad.
