Well, wasn't expecting Golden Time to be released this early. Or sub-only. I know it didn't sell too well in Japan, but I thought it was more popular here. Oh well. I like the show, but not enough to buy it sub-only. Hell, I've never bought a sub-only set, mainly because most of my favorites already have dubs. Maybe if there's a show I really enjoyed while streaming but wasn't dubbed, I might buy it just to support the possibility of a future one, but while Golden Time was good, I don't think it'd be a worthwhile investment minus dub. My reasoning for that can be seen here (my review of the show) and here (my sub vs. dub post).

The sub-only decision that doesn't surprise me, however, is C3-bu. From what I can tell, its Japanese sales were absolutely miserable, and I don't think anybody really gave it much of a look. It probably didn't help that it came right on the heels of Girls und Panzer, leading the public to dismiss it as a lame knockoff of that, although C3-bu's manga debuted first. I haven't seen it, but I do know that it wasn't too popular.

Aside from those two, most of the shows this month are either Blu-rays of older sub-only DVDs or dubs of newer series. Not much to say on that Illya show, since I haven't seen that either, but I do wonder if Sentai will be willing to subcontract Bang Zoom! for dubbing, since its originator was dubbed there, and Sentai has licensed that.

Nothing this month for me, and darn it; no BD's for Chuunibyou S1 this month either. I liked Tamako Market enough to want to buy it, but I will wait for the BD's. I am a bit surprised that Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya is getting a dub but Golden Time is not.

I expected K-On S1 to be on BD; I am assuming Sentai had some kind of restriction from the licensor. I hope they are able to release it on BD soon.

I think that the people that made it recently put out a Blu-ray set with English subtitles. Sentai may be afraid that the Japanese producers will have their head if they released a Blu-ray so soon, given reverse importation and all.

I am aware of the reverse importation paranoid fears, but you make it sound as if Sentai considered releasing the BD version without permission. Sentai will release a BD version only if they have the blessing from the licensor; it will be stupid to release something without approval.

And I think you are right that Sentai can only do a DVD release for now because of the recent Japanese BD box of season 1.

So they decided not to dub PapaKiki after all? Not that I care Confused

I'm actually not surprised that Golden Time isn't getting an English dub, either.

Tamako Market is getting an English dub!!!! Once it comes out, life shall be complete Smile

I'm now curious as to whether Sentai bothered to bring back Stephanie Sheh and the rest of the original Fate/stay night cast for Prisma Illya. (As Saber also appears in this series, which actress will they use: Kate Higgins, Michelle Ruff, or Kari Wahlgren?)

Tamako Market gets dubbed....Golden Time gets subbed huh....? Not too sure how I feel about that, kind of sad since I enjoyed GT quite a bit but I suppose its better than nothing oh well.

How about you actually explain your "reasoning" in this post instead of shilling and trying to direct and increase traffic to your blog? Rolling Eyes

I think it saves time on typing. My explanations can be pretty long-winded, so I figure it'd be easier to link to places where I've already talked about the subjects in detail.

It's still unnecessary shilling and plugging. If you are too lazy to explain the reasoning behind your rationale within your posts, then you shouldn't mention or bring them up.

I don't understand..... Why is sentai holding off dubs for to love ru and Kamfer and seikon no qwaser. Whenever i hear "sentai filmworks", names of ecchi anime start to pop in my head. I can't think any reason. Are they scared because its too ecchi? Also why won't they dub gintama?? They have a series which technically rivals the likes of bleach and naruto. Really weird choices

I agree with Khooni on the questioning of why not dub Gintama …now i have hear there is a lot of Japanese heavy references and that the voices would be difficult to pull off ……BUT COME ON JUST LOOK AT THE RATINGS here and on M.A.L. … how and why is it rated so high then …
And there are plenty of shows Sentai is dubbing that quite honestly are loowho se-heeerrrrrrrs …. and i am going by the ratings boards …which IMHO are rarely wrong …if ones balances between the 2 (A.N.N. and M.A.L. ) and throw in a few you tube top 50 anime vids … it perplexes me when companies release anime in the states and then wonder why stuff doesn't sell so well (yes there are many reasons ) but NOT having stuff in the english language ?? it seems so very simple to me
