From a fan service/harem anime angle, I agree and this is a reason why I wish Crunchyroll could get more uncensored simulcasts (only 1 I recall they did this with was that Cobra show during its Winter 2010 lineup).

The Anime's industry problem is not regulation. It's a complete lack of ideas (except when it comes to paedophilia and incest).

I totally agree with him, not only censorship but how anime are licensed outside of Asia, these licensing restrictions anime carried when they go overseas are getting too ridiculous from time to time. I really hate these redtape anime/manga carried when they get exported.
I believe Japan hasn't deregulate (correct me if I'm wrong) in many part of the sector which include entertainment (which anime/manga would fit into). |

Also I like to add if Japanese government along with many entertainment firms (including anime companies) can deregulate most of the red tapes when it comes licensing content for overseas market, it would make licensing anime (and J-drama) a lot easier if deregulation happen in the anime and entertainment sector.

Well in this day and age your lucky to get a story with Anime. Most come out and try to wrap things up in 12 eps and do a bad job forcing you to hunt down the manga others just rely on fanservice {don't get me wrong as a guy and some what of a pig i do enjoy my fanservice here in there} but id rather a show have a good story then just T and A

Fukuda is absolutely correct, anime does have too much censorship and regulations but the lack of ideas in some genres and a business model that cuts casual fans out for the most part is also to blame. The industry needs to be more welcome for casual fans to support their favorite series and the first thing that needs changing are BD/DVD prices, they should be 30-50% less than they cost today.

They need to also deregulate the licensing restrictions, licensing anime with these restrictions are a nightmare to US anime companies. I can say the same for J-dramas and J-pop, need those 2 get more global exposures, but no they can't get out because of these regulations. |

J-pop and the entire idol industry need serious reforms inside and out and for more than just licensing and the licensing woes are beyond frivolous for J-dramas and sometimes is related to the idol industry as well, so those reforms would help J-dramas greatly as well. |

The problem with modern anime is this: No risks anywhere, no violence/real sex or content for "film" lovers. It´s like Miyazaki said.
Too much Otaku pandering. I still don't understand how Space Bros or the new Legend of Galactic Heroes are being produced in this climate. The last 5 years had tons of great cartoons(Tron, Young Justice, Korra and so on) but most got canceled and i need anime to step up ! I now only watch Hunter X Hunter and Mushishi 2. Baby Steps is also a good manga. I agree with the director 100%. The last tv anime with real "grit" was Baccano. I don´t need messed up stuff to like an anime (Mushishi again and The Wind Rises) but i want to watch a story and not a hugging pillow ad. Or another demon shonen action show. Where is the Till death do us part anime or Suicide island or a watanabe show witch a budged. Dandy is the best(9/10) but Kids needed twice the episodes to do the mangas justice. Or original shows like Lain. And no more pederast softcore porn. Its killing the medium ! Gundam Seed by the way isn´t that "mature". The movie version had a decent off screen beheading and the show had bloody explosions around episode 35 or something(but no gore) but nothing that can´t be shown to a 12 year old. And too many "toyetic" moments. 6,5/10. The original Gundam is better 8/10 and more violent/believable. Also it was for 8-16 year olds school boys. Seed Destiny is comedy Gold ! 00 is also better and more "gritty". 8/10 but the movie was bad. For great Gundam goodness i recommend Zeta Gundam 10/10 and Victory 9/10. Victory is the most messed up children show ever ! Rant over.

In my opinion, fan service ruined anime in general. Also I believe it will only get worse and worse in the future.
