Oh wow, I had all but forgotten that this even happened. I'm glad it was able to be resolved without doing any lasting damage to either company.

I'd love to be privy to the details of the settlement. In other industries, those would be leaked, but anime seems to be a black box.

Yeah I almost forgot about this lawsuit, but nice to see it's now over. Smile

This is the best thing to happen. I don't really care which company was legally right in the lawsuit. A long drawn out court fight would only hurt the anime industry in the USA and possible mean less anime coming to the states.

I bet the lawyers are sad the case did not go to trial. We all know the only people to win in a trial lawsuit are the lawyers.

Agreed, if the lawsuit had continue, there would be less anime in the US, and the industry would be hurt by this, sales might have been hamper if this lawsuit continue and not settled.

Well, we can probably safely assume that it was less than 8 million plus interest and court fees. Smile Stuff like this is the only reason why I wish Funimation was still part of a publicly traded company. At least that way we might get a better picture of the settlement.

I just want to echo the general sentiment and say that I am very glad the lawsuit is being dismissed. That lawsuit would have hurt everyone.

This is a bit random but does anyone else hope FUNimation goes back to a red and blue logo for their next one soon, I know they were able to change it after they became independent, but it looked much more vibrant and fun, & also the title card on their releases was beautiful.

With what ADV has left (assets, catalog, staff, etc.), it'd be nice if we could see more titles license by them more often. I wonder how it might affect

I was looking at "FUNimation Entertainment v. A.D. Vision, Inc. et al" on the Justia Dockets & Filings site and found this: The ADV defendant was Kyle Christopher Herbert whose name is similar to Funi veteran Kyle Hebert. This seems ironic.

These past few weeks have seen a few big legal issues tied to the Texas anime licensors: Sentai and (essentially former) ADV VA Illich Guardiola being arrested for child sexual assault allegations and the Funi. V. ADV lawsuit finally being resolved.

I wonder if such events affect the VA that are regularly in both Sentai and Funi titles. That is, I'm wondering if it would mean that they decide to stop working for 1 of the companies or if it changes how they feel about either company.
