I've been watching the pv that debuted at the live event a few weeks ago every week these days. So hyped for this. The trailer looks great.

OK, now I'm confused. The new TV series is supposed to be a different route of the VN and not a remake of the original TV series. However, everything in that trailer is part of the original series.

I have to wonder just how much of the first series they will repeat before they start showing new story.

All the routes start out the same, with the Fate route (the original TV show) and the UBW route (the new one), and to some lesser extent, the Heaven's Feel (the movie(s)) route. The original TV show used some stuff from all three routes, just because.

Man the advertising push on this is insane even for an Aniplex title. That said it does look like a pretty exciting well put together trailer as if it were made for a blockbuster film and not a TV show. It basically just screams loudly in your face "Get hyped up you worthless peons!", but I still refuse to play that game. I was planning on watching this remake anyway and nothing is ever worth getting all artificially hyped up over for no particular reason. Good technical work on the character animation though, it definitely pays in ufoTABLEs case to only do one work every now and then.

The only nitpicks I would make so far is that ufoTABLE's fire still looks like a completely computer generated effect as do some of the fight scenes and effects, noticeably so too compared to the other animation. Also for whatever reason it looks like everything takes place in the dark and at night time so there's never any real sense of color to anything, but that's again kind of normal for ufoTABLE from what I've seen. Like a blockbuster trailer it also makes it seem like the show will be a constant stream of non-stop action and coolness factor which I know is not the case.

The trailer was shown in the event that revealed which route they're going to adapt, so they deliberately didn't show any unique scenes until the end. The repeat should be one (if 40 mins) or two episodes no more. It has to be done because that's the introduction part for all three routes.

Also the subs are wrong in one place. It's not "I tried to save someone and they died", but more along the lines of "people died while saving others".

Also, Kirei should have said "Rejoice, boy.", and he said shonen, which means boy or young man. Seishun means youth which he didn't say at all. Weird misinterpretation/translation, Aniplex.

Also, Rin's face still looks kinda weird to me...just me? Or is Rib's face actually normal and I'm just crazy?

I just don't think I can watch another Fate/Stay season. I barely made it through Unlimted blade works movie, it was so similar to the TV show. I know dif ending but so alike. Fate/zero was little different, but still had a lot the same, usually just different characters doing same things.

This reminds me so much of Endless Eight, stopped watching that fiasco after 2 episodes!

Looks good. Still not 100% sure of what I make of all of this, as I've not touched anything of this franchise. Currently thinking of going in totally blind for UBW, as I've been putting off watching Zero and the original anime.

Though, I'm unsure how invested I'd get if I were to go in blind. There are things about this franchise that I've gleaned from fan discussions that has me thinking that if I'm not that invested in the world created, I'd end up dropping it pretty quickly.

The original anime, while not great, does have some information that will help you understand UBW so I would recommend watching it.

@Videogamep - Oh, thanks for the piece of info. Think I'll make a start on it this weekend.

Huh, only took them one and a half months to sub the trailer. They care, I guess! Guess it wasn't so improper of me to do a fan subbed video of my own about a month ago, though as I acknowledge in the video description, it wasn't all my doing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcIwyebdDJE

After having mulled over "my" TL for the above video for as long as I have, which involved getting selective aid from some fans who have been involved in translating T-M materials before (no, not the guys who did the fan TL of the F/SN VN)... I concur with jl07045 and NuGaiNM7 on how a few lines are wrong.

These particular lines are in their more correct form in the linked-to fan sub. Granted, after all the proofreading I tried to do on my sub effort, I still got at least one actual error, like subbing some kanji as "Mana" instead of "True Name". So that's a +1 on Aniplex USA's part. Still, I'd say my font sizes and styles are definitely better. Cool

On that last point… teehee, Rib. Hah, no, there's actually been some hardcore-shallow discussion re: what's "happened" to Rin's face on the Beast's Lair forums (where I got my admittedly piecemeal TL help from some). Latest bit of "conversation" on Rin's face can be found here.

What I don't get is why the do over? I didn't play the VN but I know the story and have seen Fate Stay and UBW. I understand there were some people not really happy with the UBW's adaptation and I know there is a lot of content missing from UBW's movie. But is it meaningful enough to warrant this do over? It's not like I won't watch it but I just don't understand why their not concentrating on getting the Heaven's Feel movie out.
