If it's not one of them chibi shits, then it could be pretty rad. Even if it's like some other artist depicting their free time when sailing or someshiz.

*looks up Saikyo Jump*

Nevermind..

Hopefully it doesn't suck like the previous Saikyou Jump spin-off did. Chopperman, right? I'm guessing it was cancelled at some point then.

I think someone may have gotten a little confused:

The news article wrote:
Shueisha began shipping Saikyo Jump every other month in August (after releasing it every three months before).

Saikyo Jump began in 2011 as a quarterly publication. The first two issues were AB sized (21 × 25.7 cm) while the third and fourth were A5 sized (14.5 × 21 cm), and then it's stayed at that size ever since.

It then went monthly for its January 2012 issue (released in December 2011) through its September 2014 issue (released in August 2014).

It took off a month after that, and now starting with its November 2014 issue (which is due out October 3rd), it's going bimonthly.

Not exactly the most consistent thing in the world! Smile

Disappointed that it is about the crew, this could of been a great opportunity to expand on some other characters, not just see more of the characters I've been following for 761+ chapters

That's what I was thinking. What sort of spin-off could it be if it follows the characters we've already been following?

I was going to ask the same thing actually. I don't really know much about OP, but it doesn't sound much of a spin-off if it's going to focus on the same characters that the main story does.

Following Luffy and the Strawhats? Haven't we been doing this for 72 volumes so far? What else can they include in this? Question

When I read spin-off, I quickly assumed it would be based on other characters we don't see much off such as... Whitebeard, Shanks or even Mihawk. Heck, I would of even liked to know more about D's past, Garp as a kid or whatnot.

Whatever, it's One Piece. I look forward to it! Laughing

This reminds me of when I heard of Gray's spinoff, Fairy Tail Ice Trails. Just as disappointing as this. There were more interesting characters in Fairy Tail that weren't in the spotlight like Gray. Same goes for the crew because there are more mysterious characters in one piece.

Yeah I would love to find out about how Dragon founded the revolutions and the early days of the Red Hair Pirates.

The One Piece spinoff (Chopperman) from this magazine was abysmal at least at the beginning (I'm not patient when it comes to One Piece - even the anime isn't really my thing) though Naruto's Rock Lee spinoff had some good laughs here and there with a decent foundation from the get go.

Source on the last one ending: animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-12-28/chopperman-manga-ends-but-a-new-one-piece-spinoff-will-start

The Saikyo formula is unfortunately miss, miss, miss and hit even with established series, though I don't know whether they have anything 100% original.

Why would a spin-off focus on the main characters as they are in the mainline series?

A missed opportunity to showcase the broader One Piece world. I would love to see something that focuses on Smoker or Dragon's rebel group.
