I wonder why xxxHOLIC and not Tsubasa......NOT THAT I'M COMPLAINING!!! I heart xxxHOLIC!!!

Granted, I've only read the first volumes of each, but of those, I enjoyed xxxHOLIC much more. Like people have said, Tsubasa just feels like ever so much wank/bad fic, whereas xxxHOLIC is classic "urban" CLAMP. So...yeah, definitely looking forward to!

I haven't read Tsubasa, though. But I do think xxxHOLIC has the look I think CLAMP is known for. Getting back to the Magic Knight Rayearth, X kinda deal. Ultra detailed and just so visually amazing. |

Wow. Isn't this relatively quick for something like this?
Unless they want to stray from the manga, Tsubasa will have to be animeted, at least in part. I doubt that Tsubasa will get the full color job until a commemerative occassion, since it seems to be a manga designed to celebrate CLAMP goodness. The real important question is this: HOW THE HECK DO YOU SAY THE TITLE?!!?!1? |

Bah, I couldn't care less about XXXholic. If they wanted to animate another CLAMP title they should have just skipped to the good stuff and done Gohou Drug....

I am juat happy they are doing an anime for it. I love most CLAMP manga so much. xxxholic almost demands to be animated. I am looking forward to it. |

Mentioned this in a post before, but I think Tsubasa at the moment to turn anime would be a bad idea. It's not episodic, and no where near done, to they'd have to completely make up stuff to make it into an anime. This being a giant crossover series, that would be kinda bad, and would involve CLAMP a lot in production. That, and I haven't even touched the subject of all original seiyuu coming back and reclaiming their roles. Many seiyuu who have done a CLAMP anime have been in more then one, so their being in Tsubasa would most likely require them to take on more then one role at times. Another reason is the possibility of license issues concerning the animated versions of the different CLAMP titles. Don't know if the later would be a problem, but if studios DO hold some sort of right to the animated version of a character, that could lead to some problems.
XXXholic is something I've been wanting to see since I first picked it up. The art is really amazing when compared to other CLAMP manga because it's completely different then most of their other art. This is because Nekoi does the art in this one, no Mokona. *the CLAMP ladies, not manga characters*. Nekoi is sort of the "back up artist" and hasn't been the main artist on most CLAMP manga. Gohou Drug is her other main one, and I believe WISH was her other work. Another reason the art is so different is that there are almost no screentones at all used throughout the whole manga. The most you see are lines here and there that could easily of been hand drawn. From an art POV this is really impressive since manga-ka usually rely on screentones to set a mood. XXXholic is also somewhat episodic, so they could easily make a movie around one or two of the incidents. Tsubasa only is mentioned for about 3 chapters out of the whole manga, so they could skip all the Tsubasa stuff with no problem, especially since it seems that Tsubasa doesn't even really play a major role in the story of XXXholic. Syaoran, Fye, Kurogane, and Sakura are all just another bunch of customers to Yuuko who crossed her path for a chapter, and contact her again through the Mokona and Madoki in another. I think XXXholic is perhaps CLAMP's most original manga in art and story at the moment out of their 3 current works, Gouhou Drug, Tsubasa, and XXXholic. Shame Clover and X are still on standby. |

I really agree that the art in xxxHolic is much more visually interesting than the makority of CLAMP titles I've read through. In fact, xxxHolic is the only one that's been able to hold my interest visually (not counting art collections). Anyone else think that the colored pages don't look as cool as the black and white ones?
I haven't read much of Tsubasa Resevoir. It's not that I think it's bad, it's just that I'm not much in the mood for a series where the primary focus is on crossing over with other stories. If that was all, I'd go pick up a Batman book every month. xxxHolic contains some references and crossovers, but it's nice that it is also entirely self-contained. The crossovers, or at least what have been revealed in the manga, are not really the main point of the story. They can be removed and the basic concept and story would remain the same. It's just more original. |

I think it's cool that there will be an xxxHOLIC anime.I never really got into the Tsubasa series,but I used to watch Cardcaptor Sakura on TV.I am kinda glad that it isn't Tsubasa.
