I'm not a fan of gory things, but I do love an interesting story. Titles like Berserk, Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, and Blade of the Immortal have been on my "Top 10" list for years. Hmmm.... I'm tempted to try this title out...If I'm reading the review correctly, there is an actual plot... I'm not sure if I could stomach what the reviewer describes though...Very tempting, especially during this time of year.

Thanks for the great review!

The plot of the first volume is lifted pretty much straight from High School of the Dead, with several scenes imitated so closely it verges on plagiarism (the teacher at the gate, stealing a teacher's car). The big difference is in HOTD, once the main cast meets up, you know they're protected by plot, whereas here anyone can die.

But at least subsequent volumes go in a radically different direction. And unlike HOTD, there's a chance this series will actually end.

Its almost like High School of the Dead never existed. You'd think we would have heard something about a continuation of the anime by now.

As for Magical Girl Apocalypse, I will have to at least buy the first volume if for nothing else the creepy Magical Girls saying "Magical" all the time.

Awww. I was really intrigued when I saw this title on the upcoming releases page. Sad to see it has a lot of gross fanservice, because I'm all kinds of down for creepy violent dolls

I don't find this scary at all, I just think it's a really cheap and half-assed manga (even the premise of magical girls is just "taking something cute and innocent and make it dark uhh ahh you didn't expect it did you?") but that it's made by an author who is so desperate and impulsive that throws at you all he can to impact and shock you in the most amateur and thoughtless ways that, to be honest... it's a genuine "so bad it's entertaining" manga! Even if it is for all the wrong reasons you end up reading everything fast, so I guess it still has that factor; but that's it for me, the pedestal of the laughably bad "oh so dark so edgy oh gotcha now are you scared?!" stories.

I per-orderd this and it's enjoyable becuese it's so over the top with the violence, or that it messes with your expectations of who will or won't survive.

Just wait until you see some of the plot twists in later chapters.

Oh great. Just great. Just what the world needs. "Cardcaptors" mixed in with "28 Days Later." I know Halloween's coming up but I think I'll put this on my must-miss list. I don't see anything here that I'd want to see. This one's strictly for gorehounds,of which I'm not. I think I'd rather read "Monster Musume" or "Rosario + Vampire." You get the fanservice but little gore. And besides, those two manga are a lot more fun to read.
I think I'll skip "Magical Girl Apocalypse." It's too bloody for me.

Eh...he's a bit of a problematic character for me. It's like, we're really going to use that type of character as comic relief? Seriously Japan?

This needs a film series so bad, there's barely any real horror anime out there, and not that deadman wonderland stuff, real horror.

If you like this, you can read his other work too
