I know a lot of people had strong feelings about the ending, but I thought the concept of Yuki giving Kaname a second chance to live as a human tied together the series' themes quite well.

And the last three pages were absolutely beautiful. I couldn't imagine the series ending any other way.

It was beautiful, and I agree with you - Yuki's actions were exactly what needed to be done. It wasn't an ending that made me smile, but it was one that I respect.

If you already own The Art of Vampire Knight, this is not necessarily a must-have; (...)

Well, I don't particularly agree with this statement. I mean, each Artbook has got different illustrations, so having The Art of Vampire Knight doesn't necessarily mean that The Last Night is disposible... I have both Artbooks and they both are great and contain really good illustrations.

What might be a consideration for some collectors is that the writing on the spine of the limited edition is gold, while the regular edition, and all other volumes in the series, have red print. If you want your books uniform on the shelf, this may be an issue.

True! This is the only bad point [in my opinion] of having the Limited Edition. Don't get me wrong: the Limited Edition volume 19 looks pretty good! But it doesn't fit so well in the shelf when you put it after all the other volumes. However, the Artbook itself makes it worth it.

P.S. There are worse things. For example, I have all my Death Note volumes in Black Edition, which is numbered I to VI; then I have volume 13: How to Read, which losts its meaning since the last volume of the Black Edition is volume VI. An even worst thing happens with my Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle Fanbooks - the first one has the same size of the regular volumes, but the second one is so taller! And since the Tsubasa regular volumes are out of print, I'm going to have to buy the rest of the volumes in omnibus format, which won't look good for sure and will make me have repeated volumes.

Hm...I read the conclusion a while ago, but I remember being disappointed by how skewed I felt the ending was. It felt very Kaname-centric, whereas I was hoping for a more balanced feel. Even the extra side story was Kaname-centric, and THAT was supposed to be about what Yuki and Zero did in the aftermath.

^This! Exactly how I felt! Though I could see how those who were not deeply invested in the love triangle would have felt that the ending was balanced. And it did resolve things better than Twilight did, but for those of us who favored either a Zero/Yuuki ending or a Kaname/Yuuki ending, we felt cheated. Though I'm sure the K/Y fans hated the way things ended the most. spoiler[But despite the fact that Zero and Yuuki ended up together, it was obvious that she loved Kaname more. So it seemed to me that Zero was simply a consolation prize to her. I also didn't like it that she and Kaname had a child together which I didn't think was necessary.]

But Yuuki was very happy with Zero. You can't be happy with someone for spoiler[an entire thousand years] if he's just a consolation prize.

That's why I think she loved them both equally, yet in different ways.

Well, that's how it felt to me. I don't doubt that Yuuki had feelings for Zero, but it was obvious that she loved Kaname more. Of course, it would have helped if the bonus chapters were about Zero and Yuuki's relationship over the years but it wasn't; it was about everyone except them! We didn't see them get married, have that one child together, or anything! If it wasn't for Yuuki's graveside speech and the kid they had, you'd hardly know they'd been together at all!

I think I'm with rinmackie on this one, although I think it bears saying that I actually stopped reading Vampire Knight years ago and only picked it up to see the very last chapters; I like to think I'm pretty impartial on the shipper side of things. That said, it felt to me an awful lot like Yuuki knew spoiler[marrying and having children with Zero] would make him happy. I do think she loved him, yes, but not with the same fervent love she had forspoiler[ Kaname]. It didn't feel like she had "equal" love for both.

I know that feeling about those TRC volumes, Wildcat17. I mostly bought the second half that was never animated, and it sits next to those oddly mismatched, but fun, fan books. That second one is gigantic! I thought about buying those omnibuses for the first half, but I wasn't really liking the page quality. Some day, I'll complete the journey. . . which isn't over yet!

Oh my goodness. I am sorry for being off topic. Embarassed Uh, *finds something to say about Vampire Knight* I do like the art of it and, in my own way, always will smile at seeing it at Walmart in the past.

When I read the last of the vampireknight vol 19 I was shocked to hear that spoiler[ kaname had let zero and yuki to be together. and to know that yuki had kanames child but whats more important is that he has a good heart and I knew somewhere in his heart that he wasn't all bad, plus yuki did have feelings for zero as well but didn't know who to choose between the two]

Seemed pretty obvious to me that she preferred Kaname, though I was hoping she would develop the same feelings for Zero. But she only thought of him as a friend and only went with him because Kaname was out of the picture. That and he basically gave her permission to be with Zero.

Personally, I wished Zero had ended up with someone else. Yuuki didn't really deserve him, IMHO. Course I would have loved for Kaname and Zero to have hooked up! Twisted Evil Though the story would have to change considerably and I know some people wouldn't be happy with that. But I just came to despise Yuuki so much; she didn't really change all that much. She had potential but became just another Mary Sue.

well from the looks of this , the chances this series will get a final anime sequel ala inuyasha the final act is almost slim to none unless the author wants it to happen.

and from the way how it ends. dont be surprised that this series gets some kind of sequel spinoff of some kind to loosen up some ends that this vol didn't cover.
