With it coming from the same creator, I wonder if Ishinomori based that design off of Cyborg 009's Black Ghost.

The original Kamen Rider's design was based on Skullman, an earlier Ishinomori character who had only appeared in an one shot, although he had a redesign and anime series last decade.
This Rider 3 is pretty similar to the original Rider, aside from different colors and details. |
