Will every Funi-picked show that also get streaming on Crunchy get these same restrictions?

Doesn't matter, we will in that case simply watch the rips of said streams. But I still want to ask, who the heck decides those things? Do they have some kind of grudge with us in said regions?... Mad

In the article about CR streaming Yuri Kuma Arashi, weren't the Stream Territories the same?

The headline should change to "Outside America (continent)", because Funi always gets the license for the entire bloody continent, preventing CR from streaming in any godforsaken American country that doesn't have Funimation (so basically everything except US and maybe Canada). Not that I care about this title specifically, but Funi has already taken 70% of the new shows I wanted to watch, so I'm possitively unhappy

Kamisama Kiss 2(Kamisama Hajimemashita 2) was an exception, as CR did get it for Latin America (including Mexico), including picking up the first series as a catalog title.

Yeah, there are a few exceptions like Akatsuki no Yona, but that's all they are, exceptions. As a general rule, titles picked up by Funi have almost no chance of getting streamed here, even if CR licenses them too (like Attack on Titan), because Funi for some inexplicable reason gets the license for the entire bloody continent even if it's only available in 2 out of 35 countries. People in the CR LA forum are always crossing their fingers hoping the shows they want don't get picked by Funi.

Then again, that's their loss, since as Blanchimont said, there are always other ways to watch the stuff. *shrug*

Kamisama Kiss 2 had different ones, so no, not necessarily.

It probably means the rights were licensed to someone else who was offering more money than Crunchyroll for those countries. For any license where the carve-out is the British Isles and Scandinavia, I'd recommend keeping an eye on Viewster's blog for an announcement. If it's just the British Isles, then it might be Viewster or it might be Wakanim.co.uk.

BTW, a big thank-you to whoever at ANN decided to start highlighting these CR licenses that skip the US. Very helpful for someone in the US who wants to recommend stuff to international friends.

Crunchy page for Kamisama Kiss, linked to from their announcement of KK2;
(Scandinavia, Finland to be specific)

Sorry, due to licensing limitations, videos are unavailable in your region.

Well, haven't finished the first season of Kamisama yet, so I may not necessarily pick this one up to follow, but if I do it sure seems it'll be rips by default...

I believe the reason we don't usually see Funimation titles in the UK for streaming is Funimation usually grabs the UK streaming rights. Back in 2013, Viewster announced that it had made an agreement with Funimation which led to several shows and Animax may have also done the same given the arrival of several titles back in June.

Okay, so Viewster is where to look. IIRC, last season they waited until about a week into the season and then announced all their simulcasts at once.

Was curious as to the region limits and found this thread. If you open Google Chrome pull down the menu and select More Tools -> Extensions, get extensions you can install Hola Better internet and change your IP address to a valid country to view it. That what I do anyhow.
