Here's hoping that whoever sent Satomi that horrific image has his Twitter account wiped out and that the police will catch him and bring him to justice.

sorry, it doesn't justify shittweeting to people who are even slightly famous that aren't entertaining it.

the sad thing about this affair are all the people who thinks Akesaka is too whatever. true or not, 100% of the wrongdoing is on the guys who are harassing these folks. and for what it's worth the japanese internet is full of terrible comments like yours, so it has nothing to do with even "japanese people" specifically.

That's very unfortunate for her, I hope her problem will be dealt with. But one thing kinda makes me face-palm.

Honey, that's not cyber-terrorism. If you (and the Japanese government) were given DDOS or your account was hijacked by hacker and filled with false content, that's cyber-terrorism.

This is not cyberterrorism at all, that's reserved for hacks and DDOSing. It's more like harassment but not even cyberstalking as it's just one image and not many in a pattern. Yes, you're being harassed, just report the user for harassment but don't cry wolf with false charges of terrorism to get police attention, it makes them think of future cases that are cyberterrorism less seriously and they shouldn't in this world.

I wouldn't call sending an inappropriate image "terrorism", but even harassment is inappropriate. Society is still behind in terms of figuring out how to deal with digital threats.

She should take a screenshot and report it to police and Twitter. Twitter isn't known to do much about these situations, but maybe police prodding can help.

Not knowing the harasser in person makes the threats less intense, but punishment should start somewhere.

Bingo. She chose her words wrong when describing it as cyber terrorism, but the fact remains no one deserves to be harassed on twitter, facebook, or anywhere else online or in person. If the guy/girl is harassing her she has every right to report them.

Someone famous got harassed online by an idiot but let's all worry about her misuse of word first.
Let's have a round of applause everybody.

People should cut her some slack, I think. Japan is a very low crime country so these kinds of things are rare. It might be silly for us where online trolling is very common place, but Japan's a more peaceful country so this kind of stuff is a surprise.

The (perceived) power that the anonymity the Internet grants can cause people to act in ways that they won't have otherwise.
*sigh*

When someone claims that something happened to them my first thought is to discern whether or not they have proof that it happened.

She claimed that a terrorist attack occurred and I thought about whether it WAS a terrorist attack first. After that I thought about how she should get justice.

While I agree her use of "cyberterrorism" was wrong, another thing that's important to point out is that it could be a woman that's stalking her.

This is how ya do it. Block the offender and report it to the authorities. Sad it had to happen at all.

Also, is the cyber-terrorism thing just a thing lost in translation?
