This series has been a real crazy ride, and seems like even the mangaka was surprised it lasted as long as it did. I've been enjoying it.

When the manga tried to be serious, it it thrilling and suspenseful. When it didn't take itself too seriously, it it amusing and a fun read.
I hope that, should it ever get a third season, it will be like Kuroshitsuji's third season and will stick closer to the story than that shameful second season (just remembering it...  ).

Third season seems unlikely considering the second season pretty much gave up trying to follow the manga and did it's own thing in the end. It was funny on it's own, but it was a terrible manga adaption past that point. Season 1 cut out a few important bits as well, but it worked as a standalone piece.

The second worst non-hentai manga i ever tried(when it was reasonably new) is ending it seems. Now only Akita Shoten/ Hoods need to go bankrups and then all is well that end well.
I (and some japanese book shops) find it fascinating what Champion Rape oh i mean Red is a shonen publication. Their Violence Jack(the worst one) started as shonen too and by the same publisher. The little things change. I even got to write my another 1 star amazon review for the new blue ray. thanks ANN for that info. I would have missed that opportunity for down votes. Today is a good day to live. Edit: Saying your mind(have you seen the ANN score ?) is no trolling and Akita Shoten/Hoods list of published works is just the worst. They somehow has Black Jack in the backlog, Akumetsu was good, Saint Seiya is ok but then the list get short. Wolf Guy (i did lol at the 200page gang-rape scene) remake number x ? Aki Sora(closed by the government) ? Quality i say ! Champion Red Ichigo managed to close down so they really need to reassess themselves. "Shocking" the market with trash can´t work for long and how the hell is what they trash appropriate for children. Though I do like the facts they present about the relation of elements between each other, the anime adaptation was not very good. The premise was interesting, usually when you see controllers of elements you are reminded of Water,Fire,Wind, etc. But Seikon no Qwaser was the first anime I saw that actually used the real elements, which I really liked. But then it got drowned out by a lot of fanservice, and I slowly lost interest. The battle sequences weren't anything special, in fact they seemed kind of ridiculous. The opponents always gave Alexander time to eat soma, and when they attempt to stop him from doing so it was poorly executed. Some of the versus between characters were also very illogical. I can't fathom how the controller of freaking oxygen losses to the iron Qwaser.

This is 1 of the most borderline porno manga/anime I have ever invested my time in. I think I may source it's more borderline than To-Love Ru Darkness.

Damn it. I thought the anime would be returning again when I read "Seikon no Qwaser." I hope whenever the anime returns, it does what Kuroshitsuji did.

Well, sometimes some manga do get more anime series years after the previous series were released. Given how borderline this series is, I wouldn't be surprised if some Sentai VA used an alias or wouldn't to be in this were Sentai to make an English dub. |

While there's nudity and fanservice, I don't think it's borderline since there's no actual sex depicted. If it were published in seinen mag instead of shounen, it might have been. |

Some final facts before i leave: SnQ has on the page sex, (gang)rape(of leads), (mostly lesbian)orgys, incest, piss drinking... Also full frontal (loli)nudity, sex toys and Nazi rape.
Hitlers wife for one who is now a lesbian pedophile and did i mention i live in germany ? So many incomprehensible grammar mistakes of all languages too and the lack of research is just a sins. I am also half russian so i know that they got the cross right and nothing else ! On the gore side there is heads being split in two, a bit of cannibalism, sexual slavery, naked teen corpses pinned up to walls... I sadly am caught up with the japanese chapters and it´s about the Vatican now. Surprise. When my superiors made us poor recruits look at grisly war photography during my basic (medical)training in the Bundeswehr i had a more "pleasant" experience for those 4 hours then with any chapter of Kodomo no Jikan, SnQ or the real king of crap mountain: Big Bro Violence Jack. Speed reading now is better then therapy later but at least it is the final bad manga on my reading list and soon to be gone. Hooray and Christmas came early ! I may have to thank the crap 3 for making me a more efficient reader so Dead Tube will now be someone else problem. No more ! The magazine itself had sex scenes since forever, vaginal close-ups of lolis and one series i(thank god) don´t remember anymore had even bestiality. Not even Berserk(but Übel Trite) went there. All in all Akita Shoten is infamous for all sorts antics(hello Go Nagai !), had government heat on them multiple times, or angry share holders, or angry hentai hacks who were unhappy with how they were treated or ... It's Kind of a Funny Story and thus they have a crazy amount of half finished series(i hang around MU a lot). Their seinen magazines are worse btw., can be found in the hentai corner of stores and are often scanlated by porn groups. Did i mention their army of hentai artist ? Even the shojou/josei magazines are (literally)smut central. One of their josei mangas is called Deep Sex or a "seinen" one called VITA Sexualis(same SnQ team, same crap but less rape so no Hoods anime). I lack words ! They also do abysmal adaptations of anime. Look at the Hime/Otome tv tropes page for a savage beat down because the Hime one starts with loli rape. Notice a theme ? And people wonder why barely any of their modern publications/tankobon make real numbers in the long run but shock level sells on a certain level on the other hand so they are not idiots ether and have their math down i will admit. Worst of all can easily name "real" hentai series that went over 15 volumes so that is nothing special on SnQ side too. Or even better i could name 10+ "real" hentai manga at the drop of a hat that have a better story(Sense of values of wine for one) or art(such a mess). Hoods themselves employ a lot of porn artists so why they are carp should be obvious. Who would adapt Manyuu Hikenchou if one could do his Oidemase Nyan Nyan(another well written hentai) instead ? I give Hoods 3 more years or they merge with a hentai company and go away. I now wasted enough time on this garbage for the entire year, needed to train for an english degree and even exercised all of my demons. What an efficient day and best of all wrote this while watching tv. No time was wasted after all ! For the record: I had ironic "fun" with their Wolf Guy(i got positive mail for my MU review) and the misguided Battle Royal manga for some reason so you can throw tomatoes at me if you want. Here i blame it on the black comedy but can´t really recommend them either. Read Crossed(Alan Moore is doing one now) or watch a Serbian movie(minus the baby scene) if all obvious new seinen(like Suicide Island or Wolfsmund) fails you. They don´t represent pedophiliac (gang)rape as masturbation fodder, have (non-homophobic)authors who can spell and even construct real sentences. Piece out, real seinen forever and tonight i sleep the sleep of reason. |
