We have a saying here "Enero y Febrero, desviejadero" since in the northern hemisphere winter is in full swing then old and/or weak people have a higher mortality rate in these months. If we have not seen this in some year it is just because famous anime/manga related people were not affected that year, an statistical anomaly.

I think it is adequate to place here this 8 man opening clip.

May he R.i.P.

Oh wow. I still have to watch Harmagedon. I send my deepest condolences to any family he may have had. Your work was loved my many old schoolers. They will miss you deeply.

Chrno: If you're looking for used copies of Harmagedon, get the Collector's Edition, if possible. It's got a good Rintaro commentary track on it.

Anyway, R.I.P., Hirai-san.

Japan's first online novel happened in '94? That was possibly ahead of its time. Condolences to his loved ones.

Well, this is a bummer. Hirai wasn't exactly the sort of author who aimed high, but he was quite prolific, and at its best his work did have a raw, savage quality that was certainly memorable.

"Wolfcrest" actually has a 2-part English translation, but it's a long-OOP Japanese release, intended for Japanese learners of English who apparently needed to converse about werewolves, rape, and mayhem in English. The fact that Rumiko Takahashi drew the covers is kind of hilarious.

Thanks for posting the 8 Man clip; that was nice, and I noticed in the related videos that there's a live action film I wasn't aware of. Might have to look into that.

Genma Taisen was illustrated by Shotaro Ishinomori himself.

Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game" was posted to the internet in 1985, a year before the print version was released.
