I suppose the two games have enough in common by being filled with busty ninjas to make this an obvious pairing.

Trivial, but can someone fix the spelling error for the title to this discussion thread?

Kaugra = Kagura

Didn't notice this until you pointed it out.

Damn you.

I love how honoka has the exact bodytype most senran kagura characters would have if they were guest on doa.

Should be easier to fix than the previous spelling errors detected on the main website.

As we can see from the lack of....resemblance in the picture, though, it's not the costume that makes one a Senran Kagura character. Wink

and this is why i said its an uber waste of time. lets face it. koei is trying to do the exact same thing that capcom did with SFIV. but this time, add fanserice in the game since making another extreme beach volleyball game would be stupid.

they must be insanely desperate to make the game successful if they are willing to have costumes from ecchi / fanservice based series like senran kagura. dont be surprised that the next fanservice costumes they will include while their at it would be those from ikkitousen and queens blade.

If I recall correctly, it's the ecchi costumes that make DOA5 all its money. They tried being modest in the beginning(a break from DOA's earlier titles), so I guess you could say that was "insanely desparate" - when they first started releasing DLC of that nature, not several iterations of the game later when it's been established as what works.

I'll be spending only on the SENRAN KAGURA DLC then. No need for new nurse/schoolgirl/shrine maiden/pop idol/whatever moe outfit DLC.

I wonder if Japanese games like Neptunia and Dead or Alive are being ported to PC just so their developers can see their girls getting nude modded.

Anyway, I think I can see a DOA x SK crossover coming in the near future.

Remember the ol' DOAX2 nude patch on the X360 (slightly NSFW) Laughing

But actually, DOA developers don't:

Risque Mods For Dead Or Alive Last Round Could Put Team Ninja Off The PC

  • In an interview with MCV UK’s Matthew Jarvis, Last Round director Yohei Shimbori cautioned would-be modders of tinkering with the game in a less-than-wholesome fashion:

“We have to deal with mod issues from an IP holder perspective,” he explains. “We would like to ask PC users to play our game in good moral and manner. Otherwise, we won’t be able to release a title for PC again.”

Thats a good point. While the series has for most of it's run had a fair deal of fan service in it's games, DOA was never intended to be pure spank material. There is only so far they can go, and really, that seems to be as far as most of the developers want to go with the series these days.

There's a reason the Beach Volleyball game is mocked by everyone.

Still, sexy DLC content is always nice to have.

True. Back when the original version of the game came out the developers mentioned that in addition to redesigning the characters they also planned on making the costumes less revealing. The rather negative response to that made them reverse course on the costumes.

Not to mention Shimbori-san mentioned how the female fighters' sexiness was toned down in the Alpha build, and fans that played it said they wanted the breasts bigger, so Team Ninja upped the Sexy.

Quote:
"We actually got a lot of feedback from people who were playing it, saying, 'We want bigger breasts. Make the characters more like that.' That was kind of surprising."

"There's definitely still room for having sexualized aspects," Shimbori concludes. "If you have a solid fighting game system there, there's nothing wrong with having beautiful characters as a layer on top of that -- that's another layer of entertainment that there's a need for. If there wasn't a need for it, people wouldn't have responded to the alpha demo like they did, and send us feedback."
