Oh how interesting...

Now this gives me some hopes that CR might get the second season (maybe?) for the upcoming Spring. Can't wait to get this on BDs soon.

I know Netflix also has Seven Deadly Sins, so fingers crossed maybe they can pick that up too eventually?

Surprised Netflix didn't go through with releasing it themselves.

Netflix won't be getting season 2?

Ugh. So I guess I gotta cross my fingers and hope they don't screw it up in some way. The next question is will this be a pricey barebones release or if they will give it a limited edition treatment. I enjoy the show, even with its jerky CG so actually hoping for an LE.

Since when does Sentai do that? Are you sure you aren't thinking of Aniplex?

Don't see how Sentai could screw it up other than having overly cheap looking menus/bad burns to the Dvd/Blurays as the English dub was already made a decent while ago and aired on Netflix.

I love this series, its an incredibly well done hard science fiction series. I was afriad it would never get released because it was on Netflix. I'm glad that's not the case. Although I hope Netflix gets the second season too. I like the idea of marathoning it with a pretty solid english dub.

Yeah, that's not good. At all. Netflix likely considered it a failure so they gave it to the ultra niche Sentai.

Guess we can forget Sins now too.

Wow, that is a sweet deal for Sentai. This more than makes up for having been shut out from Winter 2015 licenses. I am assuming Sentai is in pole position to land season 2.

If you are referencing CR because Sentai and them seemed to have a partnership, don't count on CR getting season 2 because they have apparently partnered with Discotek to do home releases.

To me these news signal a possible Netflix-Sentai home release partnership

As far as I know Sentai does not screw video anymore. How else could Sentai screw this release?

You appear to be assuming CR didn't approach Sentai before Discotek.

It appeared to me that Sentai didn't have as large a percentage of winter releases as new acquisitions as in seasons past, so I have to wonder if Funimation's increased simulcast acquisitions isn't coming as much at the expense of Sentai a CR.

I expect that Sentai would work with anyone to get licenses for properties that will sell well. This time it''s Nexflix.

There's almost an endless variety of ways that an Anime release can go bad, Justin and the ANN Crew have documented all too many of them. But, remarkably, most don't have any problems. I would expect Sentai to have no issues taking an already dubbed property and turning out a quality Standard or LE release.

It can be assumed that Sentai would want to license properties that make sense ( money ) for them, same for Discotek, Funimation, etc. Possibly the big CR / Discotek deal involved properties that Sentai thought would not be profitable for them, but Discotek undoubtedly has a different cost structure - and break even point - so they could swing the deal.

Leaving Sentai with resources and time to work this deal with Netflix.

I did assume that at first. Perhaps CR thought that it would be easier to partner up with Discotek. But now these news are making me wonder if Sentai was approached by CR but they declined in favor of Netflix.

If you are saying that Funimation's aggressive licensing negatively affected Sentai and CR, I agree with you.
