I only watched the first episode of Magical Warfare, but for some reason I suspected all along that it was getting a dub. Does the headline in the article means that Magical Warfare getting a dub is a big surprise? I understand this is an action show with super natural stuff and ecchi elements. That sounds like something that should sell enough copies to finance the dub.

This is a very strong slate for Sentai.

The people who called this based on a hint deserve a medal.

I had such high hopes that this could have been entertaining, but the insane pacing issues(it supposedly covered 7 novels) and the last episode where nothing gets resolved and the viewer is left asking themselves what the hell just happened.

Can't wait for Sidonia and Captain Earth.

Magical Warfare is getting a dub but not Captain Earth? Evil or Very Mad Crying or Very sad

Really thought Captain Earth would get one, now I'm disappointed Sentai got it.

Seriously? One of most hated animes of last year is getting a dub? I'm so confused. Only reason I even gave it a 6 was because of Nanri Yuuka OP and good voice cast

never heard of this series. Is it good?

from the overall rating, looks like a mediocre series
anime#15687

also, how do you rate a series you already saw in this forums?

It's easy to do with animelist but i don't know how to do it here.

@mod ?

As mentioned above, it has pacing issues and the last episode leaves you going "WTF?". Other than that, it is rather generic with the characters.

lol Back when this was announced, my only reason for wanting to watch this anime is because one of the characters looked like Gil from Fate. I was unsure if I was going to watch this or not, so I didn't put it in my list of animes to watch. Then a few weeks ago when I remembered this anime because of an article on ANN about anime characters in different anime that look alike. I forgot the name of the anime, and luckily, thanks to it getting a dub, I remember.

Yeah, I was about to say...this is another huge misfire on Sentai's part. Next to NOBODY enjoyed Magical Warfare from what I hear, hell, even the LN author renounced it. It's fine if Sentai puts it out to use the license and get it over with, but totally wasting their breath with making a dub which is an understatement even then.

I thought Mahouka and Black Bullet both got more hate than Magical Warfare though (I wouldn't be surprised if Black Bullet somehow got a dub thanks to bile fasnication, but yeah someone jokingly or not keeps posting on facebook that they want Jessica Nigri as Enju. Rolling Eyes )

I cannot remember if I gave it a 6 or a 7, but man I hated that last episode with a passion.

Easily the worst anime of 2014 for me is getting a dub.... I guess that's life ....

Terrible pacing, a convoluted ending that was basically advertising a nonexistent 2nd season (no way it is getting one), generic cast and the logic holes in this series is astounding.

It might sound good on paper, but you should see the execution... (you might regret it though, most likely..)

I didn't think the'd be another one so soon after Shining Hearts: Shiawase no Pan and Diabolic Lovers, but I honestly think this might topple those two for 'most unexpected and undeserved dub' award...

Exactly how many BDs did this sell in Japan, if anyone remembers? More than a handful?

This show is just... well, bad. The animation can look nice at times, but that's really about it. It also has one of the worst endings ever.

Even if it's getting an english dub, I don't wish to revisit this one.

I see. another cliff hanger anime.

This series is based of the novel - 9 volumes still on going..

The manga-- only 4 volumes so far.

Given the reception that the anime got, yes, it is surprising that it was picked up for dubbing.

The first episode was mediocre, but with nothing to either redeem to damn itself; pretty standard opening episode. But from the second episode the show has started to sink in overused genre tropes, low animation quality (I still find it hard to believe that the same MADHOUSE behind 2011's Hunter x Hunter, Hajime no Ippo: Rising or Kami-sama no Inai Nichiyōbi, or No Game, No Life which was aired the following season, produced this show as well), lukewarm (at-best) VO and overall dull plot.
So much so, that by the third episode, both love candidates go see a fortune-teller who specializes in love-reading, and spend the entire episode mulling about that. Rolling Eyes

I have this thing that if I start watching a show I must watch it to the end, otherwise I'll feel like I'm missing some potentially-good material. Not only that it wasn't the case, but aside from boredom, the only other emotion that the show managed to evoke in me was joy... for when the show finally ended. That isn't something one would want their audience to feel about one's work.

/rant

Looks like it bombed as badly in Japan as Kill Me Baby as 1st volume sold less than 500.
