This arc was actually the first arc of Monogatari that I watched, for some reason, and it was still incredibly entertaining. You can't get the full value of the arc without having seen the rest of the series, but the material is strong enough that it does manage to stand on its own.

It's strange part to start on. It pretty much plays off all the style of narrative that comes before it. It's probably my favourite part of the Monogatari series, after the almost perfect Bakemonogatari.

I understand the issue with the limited animation, but in my mind it's not a negative as it adds a style and verve to it and gives a uniqueness that is hard to deny. I wouldn't like to see all anime done in that style, but I really love the presentation of the series as a whole.

I'm pretty curious now to see how much the narration of the novels really shifts from character to character. Maybe in-book Kaiki also describes a much fuller city than the other characters as well.

By limited animation, do you the limited movement or you ussaly get in Monogatari, or more than usual.

Monogatari's normally limited in animation, but most arcs still have a few animation highlights - this one's pretty lacking in that department, and the issue is compounded by the CG animation in the last episode looking really clunky. The arc is great, but not because of the animation.

Sorry about that, I was in a rush since I was going out and didn't check what I had written. Since they mentioned the limited animation as a negative I didn't know if it was more limited in this arc. But you answered that, thanks.

Yep, the show did indeed save its best for last. Kaiki absolutely annoyed me in Nisemonogatari, but here he's just sublime. Kaiki actually manages to outshine Hitagi; no mean feat.
