I hate Adam Sandler and think this film is likely going to be crap but this shouldn't be on anime news network. What does this have to do with anime?

Uh, I like the premise (kinda reminds me a little bit of Wreck it Ralph), and ANN reports on video game a lot, so I don't see what's the big deal with ANN reporting on it.

Well aren't you a bundle of positivity. Rolling Eyes

Also, Futurama did it first.

It's still amazing in the year 2015 that whenever video games show up in TV or movies they're all about Atari-era beeps and boops. Or in this case, pixels.

If I decide to see this (And I most likely will... I'm a sucker for cheesy movie plots), I'll cross my fingers and hope it's at least decent.

"Somebody annihilate this stupid thing!" I thought that was funny. Anime hyper

I'm sure the real Pac-Man would be more grateful, Iwatani. Anime hyper

On one hand, it's got Adam Sandler. On the other, Chris Columbus, the guy behind "Home Alone" and the good "Harry Potter" movies, is directing.

That's not the real Toru Iwatani. It's Dennis Akiyama playing as him.

I knew that English was too Hollywood-stereotypical to be the real deal.

Gotta be honest I can;t see this movie not being stupid. Best hope is it's the fun kind of Stupid where you can just sit back and laugh.

Adam Sandler is an automatic big no from me. Also Columbus is a mediocre director including his Harry Potter movies.

At least he doesn't hate autism like Alfonso Cuaron.

My expectations for this are pretty awful, the premise, cast, etc... I really don't see this being even "okay."

That being said I am more than okay with being surprised. Though I probably won't even see it if it ends up decent regardless, so yeah.

The premise seems to cross the barrier of silly and campy, going directly into just plain stupid territory.

It makes sense within the movie though, since NASA sent the rocket containing the info about Earth into space way back in 1982, and it takes time for the time capsule to encounter an alien.

It's like someone saw that short about Pixel-monsters invading the real world and though to make it a full-fledged movie... this could be good. Too bad that they didn't have the real creator of Pac-Man as a cameo though - maybe there might be other actual cameos in the movie? Maybe Miyamoto will show up in a crowd shot or something?

Also, if anyone has seen and like the movie Happy Gilmore (since we're talking about Adam Sandler here), this is probably the funniest thing he's done in a LONG time:

According to the Wikipedia article - http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixels_(2015_film) - that is exactly what happened. The 2015 feature is an adaptation of the 2010 viral video, and the original creators are on board.

I really don't think this movie is going to be good. I don't actually have a problem with Adam Sandler, but lately he's been in some dumb movies. I do have a problem with Josh Gad; he played one role that I can actually name him in and it's the one everyone knows him as.
This movie might do desent in the box office, but it's probably just going to be "so bad it's good" film.
