Hm, know very little about The Asterisk War, will probably end up watching it whent the time comes, I mean out of all the LN adaptations I've watched there are very, very few which turn out bad.

SAO II first volume for June, oh man June is looking expensive for me Sad

Well I sure as hell didn't expect this. Very disappointed by Aniplex but whatever, they've disappointed me many times before. Anyways this looks like something I've seen 10,000 times already so I won't bother.

Oh come on, do you REALLY need the plot?
This is just another crappy harem romcom LN with a loser pervert or Gary Stu protagonist in a highschool setting that involves some contract with beautiful girls... like basically the last 50 shows we got from that medium in the past 2 years. And they were never good or even average. By now even the most dense user should have noticed that these shows will never amount to anything more than filler at best and be unbelieveable dumb at worst.

If you buy every SAOII volume at that price, it's way more expensive than UBW BDBOX.

Checkmate, atheists.

Here's a synopsis from the manga;
Quote:
"The Academy City on water, "Rikka". This city, otherwise known as 'Asterisk', was famous for being the world's largest stage for the integrated battle entertainment <Star Wars Festival>. The young boys and girls of the <Starpulse Generation> belonging to the six academies made their wishes with Shining Armaments in their hands, vying for supremacy -- Amagiri Ayato is one of them.

Ayato arrived at Rikka at the invitation of the Student Council President of the Seidoukan Academy, Claudia, and right after that he incurred the wrath of the <Petalblaze Witch> Julis, and ended up having to duel her.

The greatest academy battle entertainment, begins here!"

You've clearly established your resentment for this type of genre, but shouldn't you at least expect the majority of Light Novels that get anime adaptions to be of this genre by now? You are right though, the setup is supernatural powers with a special academic school specializing in said powers. Yes, we've had that before countless times in LN/Manga/Anime of the same genre but what does that matter?

What happened to people watching anime for what it is instead of being a huge critic about everything? If you don't like this genre, then simply don't watch it. It's not that hard.

As for your analysis on what type of lame harem MC he might be, if you took traits from Tatsuya Shiba (Mahouka) Rintarou Tachibana (Dragons Rioting) and Akatsuki Ousawa (Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero) and combined them, then that's the MC.

Between SAO II, Mahouka, My Little Monster, and Nagi no Asukara, my wallet is going to be screaming in June :/

Except that you're going to have to buy 2 of those UBW BD Box's as the one up now only has the first half of the show, just saying. The second part starts airing this spring season.

The trailer for this looked amazing, it definitely has a bit of a Chrome Shelled Regios vibe. Slightly worried at all the SAO crew working on it, but I'm looking forward to checking it out in October.

Definitely a better announcement than I was expecting, which was SAO 3.

Did feel like a bit of a troll, though, wearing a Log Horizon costume to the panel.

Aniplex, will you learn to follow the Funi, Sentai, and Viz price and boxset methods?

Another light novel adaptation, huh... I have my doubts, but I will keep track of this just in case out of a million chances that it sets itself aside from the harem fanservice op main character bullshit common to this genre of light novel adaptations. The only consolation I have is that some of the SAO crew are working on it, so there is still hope. After reading the synopsis by ETX, I think there is two ways this could happen.
1. The usual overpowered main character who apparently had a traumatizing past and now wants power and tries to act cool and goes to a school and gets his own harem, etc.etc.etc.
2. The main character works with a cast of characters as a team and contributes to the team in some way, but is not completely dominant. The studio focuses on character relations and the plot actually makes some sense.

Well maybe were just tired of seeing the common tropes associated with these ln adaptation.

With this series its more towards the 2nd option. In fact the first major arc is a 2v2 style tournament and its looking like the next one will be a 5v5.

MC here IS pretty strong but its limited due to *spoilers*. So far most opponents have actually been on an even playing field with him or FAR above him.

Nice to see this getting an adaptation. I like these pretty standard light novels and this is one of the better ones id say.

Be careful. I have a suspicion that Aniplex shills are already in this thread.

Anway. Story sounds like garbage aimed at 12 year olds. I'll pass.
