Armin is horribly miscast. Why is there an RPG in this? And I hate to say it, but the Titans, what little we saw of them, look like crap. On the positive side, I really like the dirty, grimy feel of life behind the walls.

Mikasa being a rare Asian person is kind of lost in this, isn't it? The level of tech seems upgraded here as well.

I'm not worried about the casting, but the trailer didn't really do anything for me. I wasn't even remotely excited.

Coming from someone who didn't read or watch anything Titan,I found that to be a pretty dull trailer. The production design looked decent,but I can't say am impressed by the CGI on the titans.

Ha. Yeah, I guess it is. You think they would at least go with casting a person of Ainu descent.

Why are they soo damn scared to show the Maneuver Gear in action?? Is it that bad?? And plus, if they make Eren and Mikasa real legit lovers in this movie with an added love scene im going to be incredibly pissed!

I am afraid of that too. The maneuver gear is supposed to be one of the coolest gimmicks of the show, but not a single frame of it was shown. I think the hardest in CG has always been to mimic real human motions... and this won't be an exception.

Other than that, I am drooling all over myself. The trailer looks amazing, and the cast is spot on (imho).

They couldn't even give Armin a wig? And what's with all the original characters while fan favorites like Levi and Annie get left out? This is turning into Japan's answer to the "Resident Evil" movies. All that's missing is the director's wife being the lead.

Another red flag is that the screenwriter is behind the "Gantz" movies and the "Gatchaman" movie, both of which had bad reputations.

Per her ANN Encyclopedia, the actress playing Mikasa was born in Dallas while Funi's HQ is in a Dallas suburb.

She has an RPG on her back, and a Stinger in her hands. Between what we've seen from humans in SnK manga and the weapons in the movie adaptation is a huge technology gap.

Look VERY fake as expected.

This is the kind of movie than can only be decent with a high budget, which evidently this does not has.

I think you see the weapon upgrade because the maneuver gear will not take principal role like in the manga, probably wise, the movie would look more crappy and fake if weapon maneuver cgi is all around the movie, that is why you see even a guy with an axe!

I guess I'm one of the rare few that thinks this looks kind of cool? I mean, that might be because I expected much worse, but overall it's not bad.

As for the special effects and the gear, I actually think it would be better to avoid using them as much as possible. I understand that it is such a crucial part of why the series is so cool, but given the budget of Japanese film (versus US movies) I think it's wise to tell more than show in this case.

Basically, if the writing is strong enough I think that's what will matter more in the end than if they can tone down the use of effects.
