Anime's like Absolute Duo, Blade Dance, World Break, Fafnir rarely get 2nd seasons. Though Absolute Duo is doing even worse then usual.

makes you wonder why they even put series like those out in the first place. I can understand it from a consumers view seeing how expensive one anime BD costs and the amount that is released every year, gotta be extremely picky with what you buy even if you liked a series enough to want to buy the BD.

I guess Sailor Moon's product line is doing great, because those numbers would never justify making more for a late night anime.

With Sailor Moon Crystal continuing to fare terribly with multiple obvious animation problems and a wayward plot, I'm not surprised that its Blu-Ray sales aren't that high.

Disc sales mean almost nothing to merch-based franchises. Last year PreCure sold less than thousand discs on average and they still make more than 100 million bucks a year, 2nd biggest anime franchise in Japan only behind Gundam.

This Fafner show is the 2nd season in the series (1st one aired back in 2004), and it's the only one in the post that is an original story (and other are LN adaptations).

For people complaining about how Sailor Moon Crystal his doing.

Note that Sailor Moon Crystal isn't a Late Night anime, no, it is a ONA, so basically there is no TV Channel night timeslot costs. I don't know how much you have to pay niconico to do something like Sailor Moon Crystal, but I bet or it is free or it costs very little.

The merchandise of the franchise is definitely doing pretty well, given they are sending more and more merch every day.

Sailor Moon Crystal isn't also doing has bad has people think in terms of Discs!
Is basically doing 3k with BD+DVD, that means that it is able to pay the production costs just with that. Meaning all the rest of the money made with the franchise is profit.

Also the series has licences made all over the world! A lot of places in Europe already have scheduled the beginning of the series.

Merch sales and advertisement for the magazine/orginal source.

That is probably one of the reason magazines like kirara have been putting out atleast 3 new anime per year(3 in 2012, 4 in 2013, 3 in 2014 and 5 announced for 2015 so far). It seems it helps boost the sales for the magazine, ontop of boosting sales for the manga that get animated.

lol Wrong show. Understandable to misinterpret that though, but Absolute Break is the only one listed in the chart that he/she is referring to.

That was bought by MBS has a re-air/license(even though it never re-aired in any other TV channel).
So in reality is MBS paying for everything(and probably other sponsors). And it stills does the marketing job for Toei.
Basically a win-win situation to Toei.

For quite sometime MBS re-airs series from others channels, including a lot of Toei series, for example Precure from TV Asahi.

Actually, it's third because Yokai Watch beat Gundam last year. So much Yokai Watch popularity it's kinda scary.
