Ugh, I hope the insanity over ToZ dies down eventually; it's just obnoxious now, with everyone complaining about it, and some jerk started a now deleted(I think) petition to remove him from the series.

I know there was a post about this earlier in the week when the creator apologized but...

Jeez it's not the Devs fault you didn't feel the surprise or joy he thought he was bringing, they tried something creative and different than most games and got attacked for it.

I said it before and I'll say it again, the Gaming community acts so entitled sometimes it's infuriating.

I don't know if I'd call it "entitled" per se, but I do find it really strange all the people who apparently want to know everything about a game before playing it. Certainly I can understand disliking the execution of a twist, but I have seen a lot of angry comments directed at the very idea of surprise.

I haven't even played the game and I'm getting angry on the Devs behalf.

This is a mountain out of a molehill situation

Oh for goodness sake. Why does he need to apologize for making a game the way he wanted? His game? I don't see people complaining when a manga or anime doesnt go their way? It's the same thing. You buy it to enjoy, not control what goes on in the story, unless it was intended for that, which it wasnt. It's times like these I'm ashamed to be a tales fan...

So glad I don't care about having a fake digital girlfriend, so I can just let this whole thing fly over my head and enjoy the game.

I get it from the angle of people angry at people being angry but I'm also angry that she isn't playable except as DLC that came out AFTER the game released. And the game's only been out for a few months....That kinda "DLC" is just BS and everyone knows it. They (company) did advertise her as heroine. I don't care if that was 100% accurate, she should've been a non-DLC character. Especially with how they advertised her being so awesome.

I've already written a big piece over on Siliconera about this, but I'd also like to weigh in here.

My issue with Tales of Zestiria is not with Alisha leaving, in the interview that is shared over on Siliconera, it was made clear that Baba had some really interesting ideas for utilizing her leaving, and I'm really eager to see how it plays out in the game itself when it launches. My actual issue with the game is it's DLC decisions.

Mystic Artes should never have been DLC. That's weird and uncool. End of story.

God I hope this interview marks an end to all this craziness, the people involved need to draw a line under this matter and move on with their lives. I really feel sorry for the Tales team having to deal with all this unwarranted backlash. They wanted to do something different, deviate from the tried and tested formula and all they got in return was bile. To top it off Baba then has to issue such an unnecessary/undeserved apology.

Yeah I can understand the anger at the DLC situation it was a bad call, but they're not the first to do it and they certainly won't be the last. However the whole Alisha 'heroine' thing is so mind numbingly stupid. As I stated in a post earlier this week and which Baba has now confirmed in this interview. He and 'his' team never proclaimed her to be the main heroine, in regards to that matter they owe the 'fans' nothing.

Ohh it happens, especially when anime aren't faithful to their source material. Akame ga Kill! is the most recent example I can think of. When fan boys aren't happy about something you better believe they're going to shout about it.

Why? It's the people responsible for stirring this up in the first place that should be ashamed of themselves. Baba and his team just wanted to make an enjoyable game for people to play and all these ridiculous complaints (DLC aside) are ruining it for everybody else.

I'm with you on this. I feel like with each passing title, more and more of the content that would normally be part of the original purchase of the game is getting pushed into DLC and forcing you to funnel out more cash in the end. First it was the costumes, and with Zestiria now that entire Alishia scenario as well as the Mystic Artes-- at least the scenario was free for a short while, but charging an extra amount for it for what the game is (not even as impressive as the other ps3 tales, honestly), it's really disillusioning.

Yeah, and I know other RPGs do things similarly, but the Tales series used to be a bastion from excessive amounts of DLC. I mean, I'm fine with the DLC costumes (personally), but the rest of it is becoming a real pain. And I'm predominantly a supporter of good usages of DLC.

I was definitely planning on buying this. Now I'm not. When companies start getting "creative" with their DLC and marketing, then I get "creative" with finding other games to spend my time on.

People can never hope to die complaints about this type of stuff down. The masses never acknowledge apologies from developers, because the main people complaining about design choices in video games seem to only ever read one article on the matter, and don't really seem to follow the situation after the main impact.
That seems to be the case quite a bit too much.

Should I make a petition about how in Tales of Destiny I wasn't allowed to keep Leon through the entire game?

What about how I never got the heroine of Rebirth in my party?

But Ashe is one of the main characters why doesn't he become playable more than the 1 extra bit?

Oh the travesty. People act like having main characters of Tales series characters that aren't party members is something new.
...it's actually a cool thing about Tales games, the fact that even sub-characters can be major characters and have their own stories.

If people don't like it, that's fine. And to be honestly. People RAVED about Xillia 2, but you know what.... I don't like it. And I didn't feel it really fit in the series quite as most people tried to make you think..
