Well, I didn't expect them to go for a few years with this, so ending it a year later seems right. A-1 can use these for fillers(I dont think anyone should misinterpret this) now if they dont go the OVA route.

Didn't expect it to end so soon, I thought we'd at least get to see manga spoiler[how Mavis wound up in that crystal], but maybe with the main series going where it's currently going, we'll get our answers there. I wonder if Mashima intentionally planned to end it at the same time that we got the reveals we've been getting in the manga recently

I thought that, too. When the magazine (and its new series) was first announced, I thought it will be running for at least 40-50 chapters... Maybe he just got tired doing both the weekly and the monthly series at the same time.

I'm sad to see Zero go, but it's given us a lot of story so i don't mind, and Ice trail was going to have to end once Gray got to Fairy Tail so that's not a surprise (I still wonder if people are right and that Thief he's with is really Doronbolt/Mest)
I curious though, what will happen to the Wendy Spinoff and the one about the Girls? |

Yeah, I believe it was announced to be a year long thing so it makes sense to be wrapping up around now. |

Somehow I hadn't even heard about the Gray spinoff. I've been keeping up with the main series and Zero, but looks like I've got something else I need to go read as well.

These spin-offs might have been only meant to have a short run and you add the fact that Mashima is also working on the main series=even more hard work (plus, he does have a daughter that he would want to see when he can).

I just hope they get around to ending the actual story pretty soon, because everything after the grand magic games arc has been getting kinda stale......

 If you like Gray's character and want to read one insight into how he joined the guild, it's worth checking out.
I absolutely adored Fairy Tail Zero, though. I'm going to be sad when that finishes (not that I wasn't already sad after Chapter 11, but still). |

Since FT Zero is ending, maybe the anime could adapt it after the Tartaros arc is finished. Same could go for Ice Trail.
