Love the image of Sachiel chilling the night before the attack.
It seems that someone forgot to translate a bit of Megumi Ogata's twitter post. Shinji says that he got something (sand? I'm completely guessing as to what シャリシャリ is) in his mouth after the car got flipped. |

The clips I've heard of her as Shinji has me saying otherwise. Just as there are people who won't watch the English dub from hearing some clips, I am the same for certain subs. The girly sound is way too annoying to me. |

In the scene in question, the military used a special mine in order to attack the enemy, and a blast (including a cloud of dust) from the explosion caused by the mine also hit Misato's car. After the explosion, Shinji said, '口の中がシャリシャリしますけど,' in the scene. So probably it is sand. I have seen a Japanese person, maybe jokingly quoting from Evangelion, say, '口の中がシャリシャリする,' to describe Asian Dust (dust rising into the sky in China which is visible as a haze also in Japan). |

What? You prefer Spike Spencer's completely unsympathetic portrayal where he intentionally does an exaggerated "cartoon coward" voice because he legitimately hates the character? Shinji is supposed to sound weak and beaten down, not like some obnoxious, whiny strawman of a wussy kid. Ogata plays Shinji as a wavery, barely-speaks-above-a-whisper wisp of a human being. Spencer plays him as STOCK ANNOYING MALE LEAD #40458549-A. |
