It's great that it's finally being released in NA, but it is kind of disappointing and even irritating that this is the same exact thing that was released in Europe a few months ago. I had pre-ordered the EU version because they made it sound like the El Psy Kongroo edition and its contents would be exclusive to the European edition and that the NA version would be different.

This is nice for sure and I hope it means that the other games in this series will eventually be released in English especially since the later games don't have PC ports and as a result, no English patch.

Why does no one, including this "news," ever mention the JASTUSA PC edition? From what I've read it wasn't bad or anything.

Everybody's too butthurt about it not being released on Steam. Plus the other Science Adventure games aren't on PC, so it's better to support the console releases IMO.

I hate to say it but as much as I love the series to death, I avoided the heck out of the Jast version due to their using "Luka".

It was "Ruka" in like every single Steins;Gate thing I've seen & the whole thing was just so jarring I skipped it. Hopefully the Ps3/Vita versions will tighten that up a bit & I'll totally be buying.

Ah, that would make sense. Hilarious considering Steam releases aren't always in the hands of publishers like JAST or MangaGamer. Fortunate that many of MG's titles (all ages versions, but w/e) make it.

It's a shame, though, that support for PC localizations suffer for that reason. The Japanese companies pay very close attention to the performance of those titles. I'm not saying shell out willy-nilly, but that kind of thing might hurt the localization of other PC titles, many of which conversely never had a console port. Hopefully they'll all continue to do well.

Luka is the official romanization, that wasn't Jast's decision, it was Nitro+/5pb. Crunchyroll got it wrong first (along with "Congroo" vs "Kongroo"), and Funimation followed suit. The PS3/Vita versions use the same translation as Jast.

Figures. Devs probably made sure they had the names accurate to the original.

Was it ever confirmed the translation was the same? I wonder how that played out, like if mages/5pb's license agreement with JAST says they can dictate how the script is used, or if the new port reached out to JAST just to save time.

I heard that the translation was licensed to MAGES and that JAST didn't even know about the console ports until they were announced. There were at least a couple of small changes they made to the console script, though (like replacing Radio Kaikan with RadiKan, which I guess is supposed to be the in-universe equivalent)
