I wonder if the U.S. has books similar to these manga that cover history of any sort?

I doubt that these will ever get an English translation, but I would be interested in reading some if they did.
Considering my near total ignorance of real (as opposed to anime) Japanese history these would probably be at just about the right level for me.

I do not know if they are still active but there is a company called For Beginners, LLC that publishes graphic non-fiction books, including some history.
I recently read Einstein for Beginners and it was very educational and got rather deep into the theories and equations.
