I hope Mr. Akagi's new home is prettier than his old one.

Actually, Hungry's, the restaurant in question, is in Yokosuka.
SurpasS, the bar in question, was in Kichijōji.

Isn't this kind of a spoiler for people who've only seen the anime on CR? Razz

This was an oversight on my part. Eric correctly labeled where both restaurants were in a previous paragraph. It was since corrected.

Could you not have titled this Akagi tribute in Yokosuka Restaurant instead, seriously I just finished S1. There really was no need to have such an abrasive title seems like you went out of your way to spoil for no reason what so ever.

Akagi is still alive in the manga named after him (still battling Washizu I'm sure).

You'd have to read Ten, a sequel of Akagi of sorts, in order to know why the tombstone is there.

Not sure why did Akagi get a tombstone because I have never read the manga or watched the anime.

I'm hoping that he doesn't eat a lot like a certain other Akagi would. . . . . .

13 year old spoilers, and considering how big Ten was in japan (probably getting surpassed by Kaiji now though) it's pretty close to that one FF7 spoiler to be honest.

And knowing beforehand this arc is still one of the most powerful in manga, I cry at whatever iteration I re-read it (Manga/PS2 game)[/quote]

And well, they showed it in the first Akagi Drama episode that started airing friday/saturday so even if it's early I wouldn't really call it spoilers.

This is not something that happens in the currently ongoing 2 manga(the 2nd of which also 'spoils' Akagi's dead), he died in the '80s/'90s manga.

Yeah it's not really a spoiler, it doesn't have anything to do with Akagi the manga, they even show his grave in the drama's first episode, and even when you read Ten

spoiler[the buildup is so great the spoiler doesn't do anything.]

Akagi is a prequel to Ten and you even see it in the anime that Akagi survives through Washizu Mahjong (and that's part of the fun of Akagi, you know he'll always win, not for the same reasons as other shonen mangas, like a well controlled spoiler)

All we know is that he wanted to play mahjong in space.
