Here's the 411: Yabuki based Haruna on his wife and she was ok with that at first. However at some point, she apparently had some form of breakdown and started making unreasonable demands about the character. In a drawn-out legal battle, Yabuki won only for his wife to kidnap their own daughter and demand money for the little girl. Yabuki gave in and surrendered a lot of money to get his daughter back safely. Other stuff followed on that, culminating in a divorce and the end of the first manga.

Not quite what I heard. Yabuki did base Haruna on his wife and her sweet girl next door type personality. However it came to light his wife was actually a huge bitch who was having an affair with some music producer I believe. An ugly divorce followed which involved that kidnapping and the wife demanding rights to Haruna's character. That's why for awhile Haruna got a lot less panel time in the manga. To spare his daughter from hardship Yabuki opted to pay off his wife rather than get involved in a legal battle.

May this one be a much happier time than the last. I know many have said it before and I don't even read to love ru but just hearing about what he went through before was painful.
