I figured it was just something about music stuff anyway.. I never believed for a second that it was to be a "remake" of that game. It doesn't even need a remake.
If anything that game needs a remaster but not a remake. The graphics still stand up well for an older game compared to many others. |

Why bother re-making one of the worst games in the series anyway?
If they're really so keen on re-making any of the other games after VII, they should do either 6 or 9 instead. |

Actually I think it's more about the wording he used then anything. A remake for Final Fantasy XII is unlikely anytime soon if ever(seeing as Nomura who is directing the VII remake said he would like to remake 6 next) I personally think what he was talking about was a Final Fantasy XII HD remaster in the vein of FFX and X-2 HD. Awhile ago Square basically said if X sold well enough and there was enough demand a XII remaster would be next. Lets be honest a composer is probably not versed in what a remake versus a remaster is. Hope it happens because XII is my favorite game in the series.(unless you count Tactics) |

Not surprised, that announcement really just felt like a mistake.
This game definitely needs a remaster, though. One of my favorite main FF games, it looked really good back in the day on a CRT TV, but on an HDTV it just looks awful (like all other PS2 games), some HD touching-up would do a lot for this game. |

I'm sure its just because he used the term remake rather then remaster and that confused people but I have no doubts whatsoever that FF12 is getting a remaster like FFX and it will be officially announced either at gamescom or TGS,

Because we all knew it made sense to remaster X then remake the more recent XII.

Not for a moment did I think it was a "remake," but rather a HD upgrade/remaster like X and X-2. Remakes in the terms of SE, are considerably more demanding, as we saw with the VII announcement at E3. I could totally see someone like Roth not knowing the difference between the two.
As I would say, no harm done. |

I still get why this "story" even took off, why would this guy have inside info on Square Enix's games? He's the director for the concert tour.

I figured this was the case.
I hope they do an upscale at some point. XII is my favorite of the series and in my top 10 games overall. |
