I'm guessing this is being done so that this movie can be nominated for an Oscar. It's too bad it probably won't win since the Academy chooses the "Animated Film" category based off of what their kids saw.

Film festivals don't count for the Oscar requirements. It has to be a commercial theater for at least 1 week run.

Hoping G-kids picks it up soon.

I also hope it will screen at the International Children's Film Fest in NYC again. Hosoda came for wolf children so maybe he will come again.

Note to self: When out in the wild where bears maybe, be sure to bring large dog breeds (Akitas, Mastiffs, Danes, St. Bernards) for protection.

I just saw this film at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival). It's pretty great, and I might just try to catch it again next week.

Funimation has the rights to Boy and the Beast.

In order to keep my excitement contained for the the eventual Blu-Ray release by Funimation, I have ordered the Kumatetsu and Kyuta figures from HobbyLink Japan (and just in time too as they've put an order stop on it just after I placed my order earlier today): http://www.hlj.com/product/MED07005/Fig
